+Chris Coles Hello! If you are wanting just a classic cup of coffee, this machine is the one we would recommend: https://www.seattlecoffeegear.com/francis-francis-y5-duo-iperespresso-and-iper-coffee-capsule-machine This machine allows you to brew more of a drip coffee, while the other ones you mentioned are more designed for a shot of espresso. Cheers!
Is the "alien dude" available in other colors in the USA beside red and
black? I have found beautiful colors on ebay - lilac, blue, sunrise, but
the are not the proper voltage for USA. Damn Italians!..haha. Any insights?
I want a blue one!
Hello +curlygirly 83, Those colors are beautiful, but we have not seen them sold within the United States either. To our knowledge, just the black and red are available in the U.S. ~ Sarah
Review slightly incorrect. You can actually program the dose by keeping the
dosing button depressed. When you have enough you can release the button.
Or, as it says, you can stop the dose by pressing the dose button again at
any time.
Just bought this machine because my aeg amodo broke (3rd machine). Very
consistent espresso which is the norm for pods. The only thing I struggle
with is the steam wand. It introduces too much air into the milk, so the
texture is all wrong. That's why when she poured the milk, it kind of
glooped into the cup. You won't get a silk smooth cappuccino like a
traditional steam wand. Having said that, if you have never textured milk
before, you'll love this as you don't need any skill to use it.
Using a porta filter (the handle), is by far the best way to use a pod. You
throw it straight into the bin. Most pod machines prefer to catch the pod
and store it in some kind if internal waste bin which is something else you
have to clean out.
Crew Review: Francis Francis Y1.1 Touch iper Espresso Machine

My wife just happened to wonder into Seattle Coffee Gear yesterday at their
new location, coincidentally. I found this video afterwards while doing
some research. We met Gail, and she demoed this machine for us.
I got hooked on espresso shots when I visited Italy a few times for work a
few years back, and have been wanting to get something like this for some
time. The only thing is I didn't want the expense and hassle of those
bigger more complex machines (however beautiful they are). The crema and
taste on this was fantastic! Reminded me of walking up to an espresso bar
in Milan and putting down 90 euro cents for a duo espresso.
We also demoed the Nespresso Vertuoline since my wife likes a cup of coffee
most times anyway, and it makes both shots and drip coffe. I preferred the
Illy demoed in this video. The Nespresso as some have commented seemed at
lot more bitter, and I wasn't digging the flavor as much as the Illy shown
in this video.
On another note, isn't the machine in this video the Illy Caffe Y1. I think
the Francis Francis is a sexy red (or stainless or black) manual espresso
maker, not a pod machine. Did Illy rename it?
Either way Gail was super informative, knowledgeable and helpful. Even
better, I think she convinced my wife it was time to buy one.
I'm sure you can get higher quality and heat with some of the more high end
machines, but for the price of this one, it definitely seems worth it if
you mostly do espresso shots. I think we might pull the trigger on this
shot machine. Pun intended.
Hello +zekegz, We're so glad you had a chance to visit our new Alderwood location and meet Gail. :-) The machine featured in this video is the Francis Francis Y1.1. Francis Francis and Illy are the same company and technically speaking illy owns the Francis Francis espresso machine manufacturer, so the machines are referred to as Francis Francis and the coffee is referred to as illy. We (and others) often interchanged the names, so it can be a little confusing. The Francis Francis Y1 is slightly different, because it only offers an on/off button as opposed to the two volume options on the Y1.1, but it is still a pod machine. I hope this answers all of your questions! :-) - Sarah
descaling - francis francis X7.1 espresso machine
Marco Arrigo, head of quality for www.espressoCrazy.com demonstrates descaling the illy Francis Francis X7.1 espresso machine.
Hello Marco! Thank you for your clear video on the Illy X7.1. I recently
bought one in Germany and tried using it here in the states and I can't get
any coffee to brew. I turn it on, the temperature increases and after itthe
little cup light goes on it never goes to the central blue light, it jumps
to the red triangle!! Do you know what the problem might be?
The information is incomplete, it takes longer to descaling.Don't use a
bowl like that, since the water will be so hot that you can't touch it.And
one bag of the product is suitable for 0,5 lt of water, therefore I guess
that for 1 lt, you need two bags.
I agree that this video is incomplete. I am doing demo's for this machine
and just read the manual. The descaling takes 30 minutes and you have to do
the rinse afterwards and the manual didn't clarify how long it takes ?
This guy gave incomplete information. Shame on you. He should've told you
this is a two cycle process – where you will need to refill the basin again
and press the cup icon. That's why your triangle is not going away.
