Well for starters, Greenberg is a very good film. Margot is ok, not great.
Nobody in life is 100% likable. He writes his characters as human beings
with flaws just like you. Also, I've already seen Frances Ha and it is
terrific. It's in black white because it romanticizes the city of New York
and the lifestyle of the young struggling artist in New York and also works
as an homage to Manhattan for those very reasons. Just learn something
about movies and then you can be valid in your arguments.
I thoroughly cared about Greenberg precisely because he wasnt entirely
likable, but you can tell that he is trying to change. At the end he does.
Also I think it should be self explanatory. Black and white is old style
look and so by using that in the film, with a city like New York that has
this very romanticized air about because of all the history and the art and
love for that city, the black and white enhances that romanticism and
nostalgic feel. and like i said its an homage to manhattan
Yeah well people in life might not be 100 percent likable, but if you can't
sympathize or enjoy watching a character you can't really care about
anything that happens to them, or if you do care, if something bad happens
to them, you feel they deserve it, like Ben Stiller as Greenberg, or Nicole
Kidman as Margot and Jack Black as Malcolm. Get it? Also you failed to
explain why Frances Ha is in black and white, how does that romanticize New
York? You're as pretentious as Noah Baumbach!
yes i am indeed saying you have no brain because only a man with no brain
would think Noah Baumbach was a bad filmmaker as witnessed by the
incredible amount of hate you have been getting for your comments. i did
not have time to waste. my comment was simple and to the point. also i
believe the worst diss of all is saying that someone's diss is bad and then
saying that diss back to them. good day to you you no brained idiot.
You actually think this guy is a good director, have you ever watched
Greenberg or Margot at the Wedding, those movies were painfully bad, filled
with annoying, unlikable characters, poor dialogue, and little depth or
character development, do you honestly expect Frances Ha to be an
imrovement? Why the hell is it in Black and White, to begin with, I already
know this film is going to suck.
Why is it always the girl's fault? People seem so quick to blame "the other
woman" yet not the person who did the cheating. I don't know the full story
or if there was any cheating involved. But obviously there were
contributing factors to the demise of the marriage. If there weren't then
it wouldn't have happened, IMO.
I saw this at TIFF last September and I can't wait to see it again. I think
it's Baumbach's best film to date, with "The Squid and the Whale" a close
second. This movie is Mike Leigh's "Happy-Go-Lucky" and Woody Allen's
"Manhattan" in all the best ways possible.
I'm excited. Looks really good. I love Gerwig and love the choice of song
in the trailer. It's times like this I wish I lived in a big city so I
could see all of the smaller films I'm interested in on the big screen.
Are you an idiot, Noah Baumbach is one of the worst directors ever, he
seems unable to move past crappy indie flicks with annoying, unlikable
protagonists, what do you find good about this guy's movies?
Well I'd have to disagree about Greenberg still. Also I bet the characters
in Frances Ha were just as annoying and unlikable as the characters in
Greenberg and Margot at the Wedding right!
Yeah man holy shit. Such an intense gimmick. Using a choice of camera for a
particular kind of image. Wow. I've never been so gimmicked out of my
gimmicky gimbly gim gim gimmick.
So you're saying I have no brain? What kind of idiotic insult is that?
Little kids can insult better than you. And you're saying I have no brain,
look at you!
I haven't... maybe I'll give this one a try :) it's well weird for me tho
hah
