NASA scientists used tree rings to understand past droughts and climate models incorporating soil moisture data to estimate future drought risk in the 21st ...
Humans are not the Cause of Climet Change,,,, We always have had droughts
and Many Climet Change's, Even Mega Droughts. ie. The Mideval Climet
Anomoly.... We are like less than 1/4 contributing......
I find the counter arguments to global warming compelling(not the least of
which is record cold and snow falls here in the states). But regardless.
Aquaponic and hydroponic farming on large scales would go a long way to
mitigating these concerns. They use just a small fraction of the water
levels that traditional agriculture use and produce higher quality produce.
The vast majority of our water usage goes to water crops in open systems
subject to run off, drainage and evaporation. Very little of it goes to the
actual plant. Closed systems remove almost all of that dynamic.
+VikingMan44 I would hazard a guess that reducing our CO2 emissions would be less costly than mass utilizing the farming methodologies you're discussing. That might work for growing weed, not sure about industrial-scale agriculture though.
Hmmm... Climate models have been wrong the last 20 years... Have we ever
seen anyone go hey this is the model we predicted 10 or 20 years ago and
look how all of the data points line up. It's never happened once. These
things rely very heavily on weighting individual inputs and feedback loops
correctly. All of it is speculation. No shit excess CO2 in the atmosphere
will cause things to warm up. Nonetheless, do these models ever take into
account sun cycles or under water volcanic activity? Maybe the upcoming
Dalton minimum is BS, but if the sun's output activity truly reaches a
minimum, I think we'll all be glad to have a bit of extra CO2 to insulate
us. Nonetheless, I think it's okay to keep pushing this CO2 global warming
agenda. Green energy is one of the only things that can truly put power
back into the hands of the people. Fracking threatens to ruin our water
supplies and oil continues to drive our downward apocalyptic spiral in the
Middle East. We're destroying the biosphere all while enslaving ourselves
and our children. Don't necessarily agree with the validity of the message
that NASA is sending, but I kind of support it's underlying implications
nonetheless...
If you think oil independence is going to reduce the apocalyptic spiral in the middle east guess again. I can only imagine if the United States sees oil independence you will see Saudi fall apart, and Iran become even more vicious. Then we can finally invade Saudi Arabia... lol...
They need to fire some people at NASA... They are just getting stupid over
there... Reorganize NASA and fire those bums they are becoming a laughing
stock...
+wjfox2006 Just go research the topic... If NASA spent any money on redoing an experiment that undergraduates have been doing across the nation then I guess am the idiot. Why pay NASA to do this when we can get university students to do it for free. You should be more upset that NASA misappropriated funds for this just to push politics. We are talking about NASA that has constantly made mistakes, and wasted billions of dollars. They take a video of some legacy gear in racks, re use experiments / models by university students and wow you...
Factory farming is a huge problem and it needs to stop but I think the real
problem is overpopulation. Animal protein and fat is essential for most
people to live up to their potential. The essence of being human is
derived from the ability to make tools, think quick, and hunt. A vegetarian
diet is not the answer..neither is cutting the world's population in half.
In other words, we're probably fucked. I like the idea of aquaculture and
fish, that might work. But it's going to be nearly impossible to wean the
public off addictive foods like Cheetos, soda and corn flakes in turn for
fish (btw why are grains still backed by the food pyramid? It's utter BS
and it's slowly killing us. Bottom line; we're going to continue to get
sicker and sicker if we don't allow ourselves to eat meat (or at least fish
and eggs)
We still have a problem with junk-food consumers over-breeding/inbreeding and causing an imbalance between the producers of food and those who live in the junk-food jungles of America.
The problem isn't overpopulation, it's the mismanagement of resources. Everyone currently alive on the planet could fit in Australia and have their own half acre section of land, to give you some perspective. That would leave the other 6 continents entirely uninhabited. We wouldn't even have all the problems we do if it weren't for a few idiotic countries like America. America has like 4% of the total world population but consumes like 25% - 30% of the resources in the world. Something is inherently screwed up about that model. If we just simply removed America from the planet like half of the problems in the world would disappear. This is coming from an American, so I'm not biased or anything. It's just the truth.
Let me get this straight. We live on a planet that is covered with water,
we have the technology to turn it into usable water and pump it to where
it’s needed but the only thing that is standing in our way is this outdated
concept of money, wealth, profit, and loss …. So we won’t meet our end
because of an asteroid, solar flair, alien attack or a near by super
nova. No my friends we will meet our end by the great beast called
capitalism.
Literally instead of paying 45 bucks a month for water you will be paying 150 bucks a month.. I guess you could cut back your cable T.V and maybe just use one cell phone lol...
+ZadokNiya It isn't the end, because the water has to go somewhere in one of its three states. You can literally piss in a pot cover it stick it in the sun and get the condensation off of the bottom of the cover.. So, I am wondering where this Nihilistic attitude is originating from...
Simple solution raise the price of water in areas that the demand for water is greater.. It is called supply and demand and money is the solution...
