@checotahkid ...thanks for your memory of that WHO concert! Two incredible
rock bands (Probably one of the first times 'Won't Get Fooled Again' was
performed live). I was one of the thousands who crashed that party from as
far away as Michigan (we were from St. Louis, but we met folks from MI).
Long Live the MRF!...
Just heard Elton John tune that takes me back to that show. It poured down
rain that nite and nobody left. Had to be early 70's but that show is
impregnated in my hard drive for life. Peace out to all

Erin Bode Concert at the Gardens at SIUE - 10-5-13.
Just before my entrance into discovering Jazz, I saw her perform for KTVI
in the morning and was blown away. Since then, around a decade ago, I have
seen her multiple times and her group is ALWAYS on point and engaging.
This is a video I did for a class as Western Illinois University detailing the begginning of a small river town in Illinois along the banks of the Mississippi River.
By the way, I really enjoyed the video. I do think the effects used to make
it look like an old movie at the beginning was a bit too much. The black
spots were too black. Maybe you should mute them a bit, or do away with
them entirely. It was easier to watch once you got to the "modern" era. The
total history is very interesting, (check the bicentennial program), and
you could make a video of at least 30 minutes, with interviews from local
residents included. You should read through it.
Thank you for the information about Warsaw. I will need to visit as my
relatives pioneered there, 1836-1880s. I am researching the Samuel and
Esther Bride Family and the George Shinn Family. Frances Bride, married
Albert Clay Shinn. Albert Shinn enlisted in the 12th Cavalry during the
Civil War and I am including a photo album from the family in a Civil War
Exhibit this summer at the HIghland Park Historical Society. Other family
names include: Stokes, Jackson, Mcmahon, Ellinger.
According to the Warsaw Bicentennial Program, Warsaw's bicentennial was in
2012, the original name was Spunky Point. That name came from
miscommunication between a soldier from Fort Edwards and a local Indian,
who happened to have a "spunky" horse. During the 1830's one of the books
that "society" was reading was a book by Jane Porter titled, "Thadeus of
Warsaw". Some of the citizens at the time felt the name "Warsaw" sounded
more "genteel" so the name was changed to Warsaw.
My grandfather, Charles Esper Ziegler was mayor and postmaster of Warsaw. My
other grandfather, Rev Franklin L. Gould was pastor at the First
Presbyterian Church of Warsaw. My Brother-In-Law was the band director
there in the 1960's This town has a bunch of history that this video just
scratches the surface with. It is NOT an exaggeration, this town has had it
ups and down. I found this pretty accurate. Warsaw was that small town
heaven that in its days had relevance.
Ahhhh that's my school :D This really over-exagerates what Warsaw is like,
but I guess that's just my closed-minded view of it since it's been around
all my life. That really big house that was redone was a wreck before it
got redone. It is like just across the street from my church, the First
Presbyterian Church of Warsaw. I really have to laugh at the anti-Mormon
stuff though. That definitely hasn't changed a bit XD
