"The Rayburn House Office Building is a labyrinth of beige offices. And then, there's . . . Rep. Aaron Schock's new digs. Bright red walls. A gold-colored wall ...
I think this is a non-story. There is no evidence of corruption. What else
are you supposed to do with campaign finances? You pay for you your office,
you pay travel expenses and take care of yourself and your employees. What
else are you supposed to do with the donor money?
I am dead serious.
He used tax payer money also and it is supposed to be used towards your campaign, any left overs should be returned to the donors. It is against the law to accept gifts from people while serving in a government office. He chose to spend money on vacations, trips, sporting events and $70,000 in private jet travel with money from taxpayers and donors. Personally, I think that Politicians should not be allowed private campaign funds. I think both parties should fight with the same budget and make it equal. In my opinion donors donate to get special treatment and politicians offer them tax cuts and less sanctions for supporting them.
Well did you know Christians are killing people (mostly Muslims) in the Central African Republic? You cannot blame all of one religion for jihadists and extremists killing people and "claiming" it's for Islam. Every religion has extremists and every race has radicalism.
I usually stay of of this kind of stuff but This was on the news but if you
actually saw this on the news there was a actually interview With Aaron who
said he didn;t decorate the office a design person did and that it was in a
budget that they get for fixing things up He went on to say something about
it being paid for out of his own pocket or something to that effect Also
surprisingly he was actually on the low end of spending compaired to other
dem's and republicans per the new's as they did a comparison. Take that
as you will I don;t really care but that quick clip didn;t really show the
whole segment.
+Booster Gold Do you know what allocated mean? That is money that every congressmen is assigned to do with as they please on renovations and staff. That means that money is set aside for their use by the government That is not a no-answer doge because he answers the questing meaning that the money he used was government money that was allotted for that use. Yes he spent 100,000 on renovations and staff but that was what the money was supposed to go for. Also they story went on to say that Even his 100,000 for renovations was just a drop in the hat compared to the rest of the congressmen and what they spend on renovations and staff. All I am saying is that the video should have put the whole story up and not just a small part of a clip with Steve C screaming no. I could really care less about all of this but if you are going to report the news do it not just a small clip.
+truffleshuffle009 I'm saying that the story of him paying the decorator happened AFTER the story of him paying a ludicrous sum for a redecoration. So TYT was reporting correctly at the time, and they never did a follow up. As far as I know anyway.//www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/post-politics/wp/2015/02/04/aaron-schock-plans-to-pay-decorator-for-his-downton-abbey-inspired-office///www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/the-fix/wp/2015/02/04/aaron-schock-has-the-fanciest-office-in-congress-probably-but-who-actually-spends-the-most/Schock spent about $100,000 on renovationsand furniture according to the first article. I don't see why the 2nd article does not include him under decor and furniture, where he would trump the list. I'm not sure what his total office cost is, and he may well be past the top 10.He also gave a no-answer dodge in this interview//abcnews.go.com/Politics/congressman-aaron-schock-alleged-downton-abbey-office-haters/story?id=28731489when asked "Is this a good use of taxpayer money?" when he just says "we're allocated funds for renovations and staff, and we just have to use our best judgement".
Actually the news story was about this and about the decorating of the office to be like downtown abby. So i am not sure what other story you are talking about. Also it is very relevant as the story was talking about spending on remodeling as a person in congress and that when he had spent on his remodel was nothing compared to most other congressmen and that He was on the bottom of when it came to the amount spent. Not that I think they should be allowed to do what ever they want and spend on what ever they want but I would rather the youngturks would have done a better job in reporting on this other than throw in a clip of steve shouting no when there were already news and a interview with the congressman.
+truffleshuffle009 this happened after the story broke. And the spending of him relative to other congress members is irrelevant. It's ridiculous that a junior member of congress, nonetheless a senior member of congress, should spend thousands of dollars decorating an office where they spend like 10% of their time. He basically did a huge back peddle. And the greatest irony is the show is about an english aristocracy....and he's supposed to be "fiscally responsible". Also he's totally a flaming queen.
Again we see, that Republicans are dumb! WTF is this guy doing representing *anybody
anywhere?*
Okay, so GOPhers are dumb, but what about the pathetic idiots who vote them
into office? Can't they see, that they're corrupt in a way that Dems only
dream about? I mean, when Charlie Rangel got caught, it was a pretty big
deal, but he's been in politics forever, so he's had time to collect
favours. But this guy's young, fairly new in the game. He'd be a
billionaire by the time he's 70 years old, the way GOPhers sell their
services for legal and illegal bribery. And really, one has to be
terminally stupid to manage to break the *etchics* rules! But then, again,
the House is in GOP hands, so they won't give a flying f**k unless we're
really talking about millions.
+John Doe And how much has Fox News talked about this subject? They've had plenty of air time about Hillary's failure to sign a separation form but have yet to mention Aaron Schock embezzlement.
What about when Leeland Yee of California got caught? TYT barely said anything.
