A set of steak knives?! I need to watch this movie. I always assumed with a
title like that it was about leprechauns living under a bridge on the
Liffey.
I dunno why I hated Colin (Matt Damon) so much as a character... and I'm
usually the guy who roots for mobsters in movies as opposed to the
government. Leo's character though, I could sympathize with.
This was the only scene in the movie where I actually thought Leonardo
DiCaprio's acting was legitimately good. That being said, I still wish it
was Damon who had punched that fucking punk in the head 3 times, and not
the other way around
+Michael Colby Really? If you say so. Still doesn't change the fact that I dislike Leo in general, and I thought his perfromance in this film was pretty bland
+Thomas Lorentzen I thought he gave the best performance in the whole movie, I feel like he really became that character and it was something that he had never done before. Unlike Mark, Matt, and Jack who all seemed to be doing the same thing they had done before. Leo really brought nuance and grit to that part and was remarkable believable.
+ash ketchum honestly, I thoguht it was the weakest of the main leads. IMO Matt Damon, Mark Wahlberg and Jack Nicholson all outdid him. I just don't really get why so many people keep praising Leo as the greatest actor ever... Sure,he has proven himself in his movies from this current decade, but come on... look at how people are screaming for his oscar as soon as his name is just mentioned when a new movie is announced... shows how people are just looking at a name over the actual performance.
See I disagree with you on The Departed... I thoroughly enjoyed it. And I agree that Leo was very good in Wolf of Wall Street. And he was great in Dhango as well. But I Just don't think DiCaprio is the "golden sun" that everyone keeps saying. When people say he is the greatest actor of our generation I highly disagree. Mathew McCounaghey, Woody Harrelson, Tom Hanks, Christian Bale, Bradley Cooper, Matt Damon, Mark Wahlberg and Gary Oldman. And DiCaprio is by NO MEANS as good as people like Jack Nicholson, Al Pacino, Robert DeNiro, Robert Duvall, Marlon Brando and Peter O'Toole, unlike what everyone keeps telling me. But hey, to each their own
+Thomas Lorentzen (Wouldn't worry about them. The internet's equivalent of the telephone tough guy.)I don't hate the chap. I just run hot and cold with his performances that can be a little... blank sometimes? For the longest time I've had a thing where DiCaprio still looks like a little boy to me, while, funnily enough, Matt Damon has shaken that off. I will concede that although I am not The Wolf of Wall Street's biggest fan, his performance was undeniably very skilled throughout. There are times in that movie where he does look like a man and in a very bad way. What I will not concede is that The Departed was a good film - nay 'Best Film' apparently - because the dirty little secret is that the entire cast knows it's none of their best work, are genuinely surprised with the acclaim, and only turned up to hang out with their new best pal Marty. The Departed is a staggeringly unthrilling thriller, yet another unnecessary remake, and a pretentious, rambling piece of shit. So am I - but that's okay because I'm not charging you £9.50 a pop to see me. (Shutter Island : also vastly overrated crap.)
WOW DUDE! When I saw someone had commented, I thought I would get one of DiCaprio's brainwashed flame the living shit outta me. Believe me, I have gotten DEATH THREATS for disliking DiCaprio
