Oh wow!!! Just watched your video and finished cooking Jasmine rice for the
first time (in fact it was the first time I ever cooked properly rice and
didn't use those pre-made bags), lol!!! Thank you soooo much, you're
great!!! I love Asian cuisine, so I'll definitely check out your other
videos!
Your ease and grace in the kitchen make learning so easy :) Its hard to
believe, but I can roast a turkey, duck and lamb shank along with a
multitude of sides dishes........but cooking rice on the
stovetop----MISSION IMPOSSIBLE :( Hopefully your technique will succeed me
to the next level!
I used to use my fry daddy to make jasmine rice, boil the water, add the
rice, and turn down the heat. Eventually I just invested into a rice
cooker, lol. Rice cooking is a great skill to know. Its simple but a crucial
technique to master especially for asian dishes.
Thanks Paula - I rinse some rices, but the enriched long grain rice I
usually don't rinse b/c of the nutrients in it. I'm thinking I'm going to
do a vid about rinsing b/c I had quite a few questions about it. I hope
your garden is coming along well :)
i luv jasmine rice lila, it's soooo good especially fried.....i'm making it
tomorrow, my son wants general tso chicken, rice and my homemade chicken
eggrolls. i made extra last time and put some in the freezer for quick
snacks or sides!!!
You are so sweet, thank you very much for this information. I followed your
instructions and it came out perfect! Thanks for the decorative tip using
the cup, I did that too and everyone was impressed. :)
Hi Art, washing the rice just takes away any impurities that may be in it.
I usually wash imported rices, but I don't wash the enriched rices like the
regular long grain white rice :)
Yea Jasmine rice is very aromatic and fragrant. Its usually good with
coconut water and lime juice. Caribbean flavor and tasty. Or herbs like
basil pick up really well with it.
I always enjoy trying new rices but i've never got round to trying it :D
think i will now ! Is the taste quite distinct or does it taste like normal
white rice ?
Thanks a bunch!! Really wanted to know how to cook rice without a rice
cooker.

+Jessy77251 Hi Jessey77251, I have always wash my rice then soak it a little before boiling. Washing helps to remove any insects etc., that may be present in packaged rice. I think most people do not like to wash it because you are washing away the aroma and flavors. Either way, the boiling temperature will kill any insects. I love Jasmine and Basmati rice a lot. Thank you Derona for the video and that rice looks yummy!
+anahita1 Full instructions for making Jasmine Rice is below video...Anahita! I find that 15 minutes of cook time for Jasmine Rice (or until rice absorbs all water) creates the prefect texture and nutty flavor!! ENJOY!! -Deronda :)
