Yeah, it stinks that some companies in the U.S. are not flexible on
benefits negotiations. At some companies, it would be easier to negotiate
10% higher pay than ask them to alter a benefit that would not cost them a
dime. I agree with John's assessment. Just negotiate higher pay, then
some HR departments allows, you can buy back 1 week. If you really need 4
weeks, you are going to have a hard time finding a job that will start you
out with that in a mid to large company.
