Hey Robert, I came across you a while ago thanks to some forums. You put out some valuable info! Thank you. I now know what to plan for if my 97' GLT motor starts to go bad. Keep up the good work! I will hopefully be getting a tune from you soon once I fix my oil leaks and other various stage zero things. Almost there.

I've got a '98 V70 T5M with 256k miles currently. My plan has been on getting it to 300k before dropping money in it to rebuild/update/upgrade it. I just came across this video about swapping in an RN engine and wondered if in the long run it would be better going that route than rebuilding what I've got. Does the M56 transmission need any modification to attach to the newer engine? I'm not looking to max out horsepower, but I want to keep it fun and I would love it to be able to last another 150 - 200k miles while keeping things on a budget.

+Eric Villanueva The M56 will bolt up to the later RN engines without issue. Just be sure to use a flywheel/clutch combo that matches your trans and setup and you're good to go!

Hey robert, i've purchased everything from you already in order to get my auto 850 t5 to around 300whp and love it, thank you for the great service. What I'm looking at now is finding the best rn engine in your opinion, with a manual tranny and making the swap, hopefully also making around 400hp from the new engine. You mention the rn engines are more prevelant, which cars came with the better rn design?

+rebelmaderighteous Happy to be of service! The RN technically started in 1999 however I find the 2.3L from 2003 to be my favorite since that's when the dual CVVT started. So anything 2003 - 2009 is likely your best bet for lower mileage, ease of install, and best overall configuration :)

I'm doing it, but I do not recommend it to a novice. Every wire connector is special and some require special tools. It ha been a real mess. Good luck. (I have done hundreds of engine swaps and I will never touch European again)

I'm also doing a swap on a 2001 s80. Do you know if the engine out of a 2004 s80 will swap in or are there differences mechanically as well as electronically?

Full rebuild engine 2.3l with enem cams, ported head, gtx3071r, tubular exhaust manifold, complete new fuelsetup with 2x bosch 044 with e85 and a lot more :)

Amazing. Next, try a Lamborghini engine. In a car that has more space of course. Also, I might have access to an engine, if I do, you can pay me to send it to you from London, England, and you can play with it!

hahaha nice job!!! wouldnt expect that rb in therr hahaha.... but the rb is supposed to function better with the turbo fer its compression ratio...id say...save up and get a good kit... still impressive =)
