I miss seeing Nnamdi on the field. Philly ruined his career. They didn't
play his type of defensive scheme and the safeties there were HORRENDOUS.
Should've went to the Saints because they had Rob Ryan as DC, and Ryan was
responsible for moving asomugha to corner when he was DC in Oakland. An
Asomugha-Ryan reunion would've great. Unfortunately, we will never see it.
Still had a great career
P.S. to settle the Revis-Nnamdi debate, Nnamdi was the better corner,
statistically and physically. Revis was thrown at more with some success.
Nnamdi.....not so much success throwing his way. Philip rivers (along with
a host of nfl's top qbs) was asked who he would throw at...Revis or Nnamdi.
Guess what he said. Revis. Why? There are routes you can catch revis on.
Nnamdi knows every route combination in the book. Rivers said in the games
he's faced Nnamdi, by the time he has ball ready to throw to his side, the
receiver covered by Nnamdi had no chance of getting open.....simply because
Nnamdi was too too good at coverage.
Just food for thought
@johnsoncody17 There is a difference between a great player ,who is almost
always on the opposing #1 recievers, on a great defense and a great player
on mediocre/bad defenses that usually sticks to one side.Wk 1-6,(hamsting
injury but still not an exuse)Revis allowed 8 completions for 196 yards and
3 touchdowns on 22 targets, an average of 8.9 yards per attempt. For the
rest of the season, Revis gave up 11 catches for 153 yards and no
touchdowns on 35 targets. Thats the definition of shutdown
@skill14 I think it's really hard to compare the two, because they have
such different playing styles. Nnamdi mostly plays strong side so he's not
always against #1 receivers, and that's a fair statement; however, he
essentially eliminates 50% of the field which is extremely valuable. Revis
can cover top receivers, and hold them to 1-2 receptions, but I think he
has a lot more help from his team mates than Asomugha. Like you said
though, if he gets a better team, then we'll make the call.
Funny, the comments from a year ago. Nnamdi was close to a bust in
Philadelphia...bust is probably too strong a word, but he was certainly a
disappointment. No one thinks that Nnamdi is better than Revis now. He was
never in Revis' class anyway. I'm a Nnamdi fan, but Revis is much better.
Based on the pro bowl rosters, Nnamdi wasn't in the top 4 CBs in the NFC
this year...I'm sure that's not what the Eagles expected when they dumped a
wheelbarrow full of money at Nnamdi's doorstep.
I did not want to take anything away from Revis, because both are special
talents, but in somany debates last year I had to hear that Revis had so
many more interceptions than Nnamdi. This season Revis had zero
interceptions. Does this mean he had a bad season? No. It just goes with
the territory that these two guys are so good that QBs will not throw near
them. Nnamdi reached this status some time ago and now Revis caught up.
@johnsoncody17 They dont throw to Nnamdi because they dont have to. Against
the Jets last year Nnamdi was covering Brad Smith, the jets 4th receiver.
Revis always on #1's on both sides of the field and gets thrown to. If
Nnamdi goes to a good team and continues his awesome #'s then we will all
see if he is better. Till then, I dont think you can say he is the best.
Just my opinion tho.
@iamborghini1 how is he bad he is the best corner in the nfl hands down he
doesnt have the rex ryan pass rush to help him out the raiders only play
man to man no blitzing put revis in oakland and nnamdi in new york and you
will notice that nnamdi will have better numbers than revis revis can
survive without the pas rush
Only reason people say Revis was the better corner is because of the sports
market between NY and Oakland. Recall back then, the jets were winning
games and making the playoffs. Therefore, the jets had a more attractive
sports market, compared to Oakland, who had losing season after losing
season.
@pornman9991 they signed seymour 2 years ago, then they signed asomugha to
a three year contract that same year. asomugha did not meet contract
incentives, so his contract got voided. if ppl threw more towards his way,
he probably wouldve still been under contract for one more year!
Way to show your ignorance about football and life in general. Your comment
"never gonna see a championship in their whole life." makes no sense with
the Raiders since they already won three. Damn your dumb. Two other people
thought you were a dumbass too with your -2 rating bitch.
@MrLegendary025 Nnamdi has shut all those wrs down to that dont prove
anything, only wayne cought one amazing catch on Nnamdi like 2 years ago
that nobody besides wayne wouldve made nd he wouldve cought that on revis
to, Nnamdi planet number 1 hands down, raider nation
@thug8200 im not challenging his skill. u have no idea nnamdi is my
favorite player of all time. i have complete respect for him. and his
strength comes from special practices he does. in terms of brute force
nnamdi doesnt have that much
@inakiaguas way to comment on the day of the pro bowl and act like it had
been declared nnamdi wasn't playing weeks before.....he was participating
in all of the practices prior to sunday on NFL network and was ruled out
late
@Chessmapling he doesnt need it but he has it just like against the broncos
when moved bigass ryan clayty idk how to spell it and ran him over and
tackled knoeshon moreno it was incredible he uses leverage cus hes so strong
DC needs you namdi.... You, D. HALL, London Fletcher, Laron Landry, Brian
Orakpo, our secondary would be back to the caliber when Sean was alive!!!!
We got the money and the defensive pieces you need around you!!!
@MrBanks32 maybe faster but nnamdi's really small. like no joke compared to
other corners, he's weak. but he does these really cool drills that help
increase his pressing and stuff. look it up its awesome
The Raiders have tried to get help for Asomugha for yrs. C.Woodson was
there his first few yrs. then F.Washington(didnt work), DeAngelo Hall(worst
try) Havent been succesful but they have tried.
Nfl Network's Top 100 players of 2011:Nnamdi Asomugha
nfl network owns this.2nd player in 3 player series.
@o0OMorrisO0oHD Yea My dad was pretty happy when they signed him eagles are
going to be a highly competitive team this year wish your team the best of
luck this season.
A highlight video of former Raiders corner Nnamdi Asomugha. He established himself as one of the greatest man-to-man corners of all time during his career ...
