Here was a major country singing star, all but forgotten in the last 50 years of his life. Elvis Presley opened for him on the Louisiana Hayride (1955). So long, Slim. You were a class act.

Love this song. I have the LP 'slim whitmans 20 greats' and i play this song lot along with indian Love Call. His voice is so amazing and happy even when he sings sad songs.

+Bits And Bobs Thanks for recommending. I could simply hear it here, but to me, there's something extra special about having a vinyl/LP, and listening to music thru that medium. So I'll probably get a Nelson Eddy LP next time I go to a thrift shop, (they're actually quite common even tho' they're older. Seen them as 78 rpms too)

Did a bit of research on this song, since I thought it was so spectacularly cool. It turns out that it was a MASSIVE hit in the UK back in the day. I had no idea. Proves yet again that the Brits are often in front of the curve when it comes to proper music appreciation.
