you think of the pot they will have to pick from, popularity growth, investment in the sport, its only a matter of time until the States are a regular competitor on the world stage. That being said, they need to be playing better national teams than the same old ones, which if anything, holds them back. qualifying regularly for the confed cup is a start.

That is because the MLS has a salary cap. Even if a team was able to financially compete with the European clubs they would not be allowed to spend and therefore cannot win an bidding wars. A team like the Galaxy or the Red Bulls have the funds, they just can't use them to buy talented players.

Regardless of who we beat we should be happy. No matter if we beat a shit country that you have never heard of or a huge country you should show happiness and pride for your team. Say for example when we beat Spain in the 2009 confederations cup.

im american and to be honest im not really fond of mls or the national team. the national team just plays almost all shit teams and when they beat shit teams that they should beat regardless, people freak out as if they defeated a notable team.
