If I get this and have my dpf deleted how will the mini max know that I do ?
https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-tIn2GqUHKvI/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAABw/pprKpwcTRhc/photo.jpg?sz=64
+abram valdez I suggest you research this question heavily at several of the forums for your particular truck.
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-7oMBz-eKOR0/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAABY/6M_PjRuS7as/photo.jpg?sz=64
So, I have a 2010 6.4 with a mini maxx. Everything is good except 5th gear shift. It seems to slide into 5th. Is there a way to tell it to "hard" shift to 5th?

Thank you!

You can use the MCC custom tuning software to customize the transmission software, but I have not messed with the MCC software at all.  You may want to try some custom tunes from SPE, Gearhead or other diesel shop.

Are you running tuner on hot all the time? I have 2012 3500 6.7 manual tranny with same tuner and exhaust and only can get 20 mpg on Hot. I run mild all the time cause I have no other engine mods. Good video btw
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-H6ZuyKtKwfU/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAEg/7dmi6IAOicw/photo.jpg?sz=64
I always ran it on hot. I totaled that truck last spring though. I have a '12 long bed now with an auto, head studs, twin turbos and a mini maxx now. I average 16 now because it's hard not to haul ass everywhere.

I'm digging the 6.7! It's hard to find a ccsb 6.7 lariat in my price range so I'm debating 6.4 but I can't really decide
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Redneckf350 I know the 6.4 is problematic but they hadn't stopped people, it's a gamble, I've been told to stay away from the 2011 because that engine is very problematic, turbo, dpf/def and fuel gell problems
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-QZKzIcNwlHc/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAABg/eGNEhm3dVQw/photo.jpg?sz=64
Ugh, buddy, don't do a 6.4. Lot a problems. And not problems that can be fixed like in the "Bulletproof" kit for the 6.0. Lots of turbo issues, lots of injector issues, and a lot of emission issues. Was one of the reasons Ford dropped International. Get the Ford built 6.7 bud. Worth the money.
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-2L-qLoyZrBI/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAFM/YByB6tbRyzI/photo.jpg?sz=64
Your truck looks very sharp with the 35's! Are the rims 20's? A lot better than my stock 18's w/ 32" tires. My DEF heater officially stopped working on my 2011 6.7. Time to delete all that nonsense! How loud is this exhaust in the cab when driving in town, then on the highway (70-80mph), & when towing on the highway? I take a lot of trips and want to be able to have a conversation w/ the people I'm with, hear the radio without going deaf, talk on the phone.
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-2L-qLoyZrBI/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAFM/YByB6tbRyzI/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Redneckf350 Lol. You're thinking of Grand Forks, about 75 mi north of Fargo - it gets pretty cold there, I went to college there for 1.5 yrs right after high school. HahaI grew up in the Twin Cities & have lived their my whole life (almost 24.5 yrs), I was kinda stuck there because I had my lawn/landscape/snow business (no leaving town in the winter) but have since sold off the snow portion of the business & will be selling the lawn/landscape sector in the spring and I'm moving up to Fargo early next month to move in w/ my younger bro & his GF so I can focus on my internet/software business. Just need to get out of the area that I've lived my entire life because I want a change but not quite ready to make the move to FL yet - once my new biz is really profitable that's where I'm headed.I've ridden a sled a couple times, tons of fun! Was up at a buddy's cabin a couple years ago in the middle of January and had about 2' of powder on the lake that's pretty remote so we had the place to ourselves and it was a frickin blast! Motocross takes the cake for the amount of fun lol. I just don't like the day-to-day in the winter - having to let my truck warm up for 15 min before going anywhere, freezing my ass off when walking out of the store, etc. lol.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-QZKzIcNwlHc/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAABg/eGNEhm3dVQw/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Matt Wacek If you hate the winter, why the F you in Fargo?!!! Military? Or did a job put you there? My wife is in the Air Force, she was asked to go to the AF base up there. Hell no!! HahaHave you ever been on a sled?! So much fun bro. I'll have to re-upload the short video I made of a trip I took last year. For whatever reason, it uploaded through my old accnt. Can't wait to go.
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-2L-qLoyZrBI/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAFM/YByB6tbRyzI/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Redneckf350 I'm in Fargo, ND at the moment. It's unseasonably warm right now but the bitter cold will be here soon. I don't have a sled, I'm not a big fan of winter lol
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-QZKzIcNwlHc/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAABg/eGNEhm3dVQw/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Matt Wacek Too cold? Where the hell are you? I'm here wishin it'd get cold n snow so I can fire up the snowmobile!! It's waiting patiently in the shed!!
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-2L-qLoyZrBI/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAFM/YByB6tbRyzI/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Redneckf350 drives awesome! Only thing I don't like is the h&s trans tuning shift patterns, shifts too much compared to stock. Love how it sounds! The waste gate noise is awesome. Especially when going next to buildings! I'll try to get one more video done before it gets to be too cold to go outside here lol
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-QZKzIcNwlHc/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAABg/eGNEhm3dVQw/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Matt Wacek Yeah, you did, but I don't think you had driven it yet. It was still in the shop gettin the EGR deleted. How's she drive?!! Love it or what?!! How bout that waste gate sound. I've scared people with it driving by them in parking lots. Kinda funny.
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-2L-qLoyZrBI/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAFM/YByB6tbRyzI/photo.jpg?sz=64
Weird, I thought I commented on this, I made a video a couple weeks ago!  Shortly after that I had my seams welded & got the tip welded on also!
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-QZKzIcNwlHc/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAABg/eGNEhm3dVQw/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Matt Wacek I say again, well?!! Haha
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-2L-qLoyZrBI/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAFM/YByB6tbRyzI/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Redneckf350 Everything is hooked up & works well so far! Had an issue with the mini maxx right away only going to "initializing communication" screen but after posting some questions on the H&S forum I was able to get that squared away. It was automatically set to a '10-'12 Cummins and needed to plug in partially, press the menu button and then set up the proper vehicle and then the MM did it's thing loading all the tuning. Just need to bleed the air from the coolant & add some in because I lost a gallon or so from taking out the EGR. We ended up putting the muffler in for now because the muffler delete piece was a pain! Haven't put the tip on yet but will when I bring it to an exhaust shop next week to get the seals welded. I cant fucking wait to drive it once I get the coolant done! I'm planning to make some videos this weekend!
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-QZKzIcNwlHc/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAABg/eGNEhm3dVQw/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Matt Wacek Well?!!!
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-2L-qLoyZrBI/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAFM/YByB6tbRyzI/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Redneckf350 sounds good man. I'm hoping it's easy. It did come with the instruction booklet and there wasn't anything about the order of whether to tune first or not so I figured I'd ask. I'll let you know what my buddy thinks about taking out the EGR lol
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-QZKzIcNwlHc/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAABg/eGNEhm3dVQw/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Matt Wacek Nah, you'll be fine. I did the same thing. Dropped the stock pipe and put new pipe in, then loaded up the Maxx. In the MM box there should be directions on how to do the initial set up, right? I think you have to turn the key to run, then back to off, or something like that. I don't quite remember. Sounds good though man. You must be psyched. Let me know how hard the EGR was to get out. I might just bring mine in. Get the fucker done. I need to.
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-2L-qLoyZrBI/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAFM/YByB6tbRyzI/photo.jpg?sz=64
Hey man, everything arrived today! A buddy of mine that has a Cummins & has built a couple race cars who knows his way around working on vehicles is helping me out with this.Anyway, I thought about it but we decided to start anyway but should we have hooked up the MM to delete the DPF or can it be done afterwards? The DPF is off, new exhaust is on and the old intake is out and the EGR is about 30% gone. We stopped a couple hours ago because my buddy has to work in the AM and I have a bunch of work to do tonight so we'll meet back up at my place tomorrow afternoon to complete it.Did we screw ourselves by taking off the DPF before tuning? Some of the guys on YouTube had recommended tuning before the DPF is removed. My buddy said it shouldn't be anything major and we could just unhook the batteries to reset things? I did plug in the MM to the and the only screen that showed up was the "initializing communication" screen and nothing would load past it. At that point I hadn't started the truck and just wanted to see what I could do with the MM after the progress we had made thus far.Do I need to download a DPF delete tune onto the MM from H&S website or what? There wasn't much info on this in the manual that came with the programmer.
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-2L-qLoyZrBI/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAFM/YByB6tbRyzI/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Redneckf350 that's the plan! I'm going to have an exhaust shop weld up the seals/connection so it doesn't leak! A buddy told me that the they (Flo-pro or any other manufacturer) send a spacer piece for where the muffler goes so I'll try it without the muffler. And if it's too loud in the cab then I'll put the muffler in Can't wait until next week! In the mean time I have a lot of work to do with my business which will keep me occupied but it's going to be on my mind until I receive the notification that my packages arrived!
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-QZKzIcNwlHc/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAABg/eGNEhm3dVQw/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Matt Wacek dude that's awesome!! Congrats!! Just wait till you stomp on it for the first time. Any and all buyers remorse goes right out the window!! And bro, I spent two years researching. Haha. More cause I didn't have the cash, but still. The biggest difference I feel in the truck is when I'm on the highway and I'm going about 55, and without it downshifting, she gets to 80 in a blink of an eye with just a little pedal push. Also, the turbo whistle when going about 35-40, at 2-3psi, on back streets is killer. Roll down the passenger rear window and you'll know what I mean. Love it. Question, can you try it without the muffler first? I opted to go without. Took a gamble on noise, and it's not that loud. Just curious. Good luck man. Hit me up anytime for anymore questions. And remember, seal up those sensor ends!! Haha
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-2L-qLoyZrBI/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAFM/YByB6tbRyzI/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Redneckf350 Well after spending WAY TOO MUCH time researching, I finally ordered! An H&S Mini Maxx from Dale's Super Store and then a 4" Flo-Pro Stainless w/ Muffler, 5" Black Flo-Pro Rolled Cut Tip, Flo-Pro EGR Delete Kit, & S&B Dry Filter Intake from Thoroughbred Diesel! So fuckin' pumped!!! It was about $2300 but I think it'll be the best investment I've made as far as spending money on my trucks! I looked heavily into what programmer and it came down to the XRT Pro Racer tuner & Mini Maxx. For $150 more it's totally worth it for the shift on-the-fly tuning, gauges to monitor everything, the defueling capability and more. It's technically Friday so I'm hoping everything will be here on Tuesday! Thanks for all the help man. I can't wait to post some videos of my truck finally coming to life!
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-QZKzIcNwlHc/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAABg/eGNEhm3dVQw/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Matt Wacek No, it's normal. Haha. It's supposed to do that. I asked about it way back when I got the truck. Nothing to worry about. If you research it a bit, it'll come up. I asked a Ford tech as well.
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-2L-qLoyZrBI/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAFM/YByB6tbRyzI/photo.jpg?sz=64
Sorry for so many questions lol but I assume you don't monitor the EGT's since the sensors aren't hooked up? Good to know with the torque converting kicking.  Hopefully tuning the trans will cure that issue and it's not my torque converter about to be destroyed.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-QZKzIcNwlHc/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAABg/eGNEhm3dVQw/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Matt Wacek No, I just did the straight pipe. No bungs. As for the drop in rpms, it should only do it in 3rd, and that's when the torque converter kicks in. All the 6.7s do it. It's normal.
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-2L-qLoyZrBI/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAFM/YByB6tbRyzI/photo.jpg?sz=64
Sounds easy enough.  I'm still not sure what tuner I want to get!  I read on powerstroke.org that Mini Maxx is not made by H&S anymore?  If something goes south on it I don't want to be high and dry.I've finally figured out what "bungs" are, pretty sure they're for reading EGT's, since you have the Mini Maxx & it can monitor EGT's, does your exhaust have the bungs on it to hook up the senors? As for the trans programming, that'll be a good thing, my truck for some reason drops about 200 rpm's in 4th gear, then continues climbing until it shifts, it does the same thing with 3rd gear in tow/haul.  I had some discussion on powerstroke.org about that and they said to have a shop to a Keep Alive Memory re-scan but I think a programmer would likely do the same thing.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-QZKzIcNwlHc/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAABg/eGNEhm3dVQw/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Matt Wacek Yup. Just unplugged it. There are two orange wire clips (ones easy, ones fucking behind some shit and a pain in the balls). But I do need to take it out.
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-2L-qLoyZrBI/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAFM/YByB6tbRyzI/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Redneckf350 awesome man. Too bad the Facebook group isn't around anymore lol! Did you just unhook the EGR & cooler then? I have about 17k on my michelins. They've been awesome so far, we will see how they are in the snow this winter.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-QZKzIcNwlHc/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAABg/eGNEhm3dVQw/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Matt Wacek hey man. No prob. I actually haven't done the EGR delete yet. I need to. Kit is sitting in my garage calling to me!! Haha. When you first hook the tuner up, it goes through a bunch of things to match up to your truck and one of em is the option to tune the transmission. I always hit yes. When you first drive it, you will feel some hard shifts. Those eventually go away as the trans learns how you drive and smooths out. So, it's up to you really. Never hesitate to ask a question man. A buddy n I actually had a page of FB called "I'd Rather be Stroked, than Rammed" haha. We started it for this reason, to help guys out with questions. It did ok. But, I got off Facebook and actually lost touch with the guy. Oh well. Let me know if I can help in any other way. Actually getting tires this week. Toyos again. Got 100K out of these ones, so why would I get anything else!!!
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-2L-qLoyZrBI/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAFM/YByB6tbRyzI/photo.jpg?sz=64
And another question, did you do the tuning yourself? I've been reading on the forums and some guys have had issues with a trans tune with the mini max & it goofed up the truck's shifting pattern, have you experienced anything with this?  Thanks a bunch man!
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-2L-qLoyZrBI/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAFM/YByB6tbRyzI/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Redneckf350 One more question, sorry about all the questions, this is the first diesel I've owned that I'll actually do any mods - did you install the EGR delete also? If so, how hard was that?
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-2L-qLoyZrBI/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAFM/YByB6tbRyzI/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Redneckf350 awesome, thanks for the tips man!! I'm thinking I'll get a flo-pro downpipe back system w/ muffler. 4" since I have a 5th wheel hitch and there isn't much of a gap there. Plus from the research I've done the 4" is a bit quieter than the 5".
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-QZKzIcNwlHc/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAABg/eGNEhm3dVQw/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Matt Wacek Good question man. I'm in MA, salt here as well, haven't had an issue yet. But, stainless is always better, just expensive. Yes, I did do the instal myself. Wasn't bad. Took me prob 2hrs total. Just make sure you zip tie and seal (plastic bag or tape) all of the sensors you have to release. I think there was 7. Most are just wire clips and can be sealed easily. One of em comes off the top of the DEF main filter: A: it's a bitch to get off. I'm a bigger guy, and I had to crawl all up in the underside of my truck. And B: it's sizeable and not many places to zip tie it to. I wrapped it in a plastic sandwich bag a taped the shit out of it and tied it to another wire close by. Pull the trigger man. You'll have a whole new truck on your hands. The power and throttle response is incredible.
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-2L-qLoyZrBI/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAFM/YByB6tbRyzI/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Redneckf350 I think I just may! I live in MN & they salt the roads like crazy, would it be wise to get the stainless steel or aluminumized steel? Also, did you install it yourself?
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-QZKzIcNwlHc/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAABg/eGNEhm3dVQw/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Matt Wacek Yup!! That's the going rate bud. I payed about $2400, but that was without the S&B, cause I already had it. Awesome intake btw. Super easy to instal and clean/replace filter. You'll love it. I also got it from Powerlabs. Very nice people. Make the investment bro. It's worth it. It pays for itself in money you save in fuel mileage. I stay at about 18.2. That's from 15.7. Not too shabby.
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-2L-qLoyZrBI/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAFM/YByB6tbRyzI/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Redneckf350 I just put tires on a few months ago so it will be a while before I buy rims & tires but that's awesome to hear! I'm excited to get this done. Do you mind if I ask what you paid for the exhaust, deletes (EGR), & tuner? I found a kit from Powerlabs diesel but it was about $2700 for the 4" Dpf delete Flo-pro alumnized steel exhaust w/ h&s mini max, EGR delete & s&b intake. I'll definitely keep you up to date. I'll definitely be posting a video on here of it when my truck finally comes to life!
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-QZKzIcNwlHc/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAABg/eGNEhm3dVQw/photo.jpg?sz=64
Hey bro! Thanx. What a difference adding after market wheels. They sit out a little more than the factory wheels so it makes it look a lot more aggressive without doing a lift. As far noise, only little louder bro. To the point where it's not even an issue, really. I was worried about it as well. Even towing up a hill with 10k. I mean, you know your pushing it, but it's not like having stacks behind your head, or driving a straight piped 7.3 (which my buddy has and it's loud as fuck!!). Put it this way, my wife isn't into trucks at all, and she's never made a comment. Haha. Keep me posted bro. Good luck!!

Your shifting hard because ever time you change tune the trans needs to relearn how to shift and put power on the ground. These trucks don't like to changed back and forth on tunes often. Look up trans relearn processes and leave it on one tune and shifting will improve a lot.

I have a guy in Washington that writes my tuning. Truck sounds very healthy running his tunes and little to no smoke output. The 12v modifier is something I wanted. I don't use it often but it sounds awesome.
