Prague Travel: The Spanish Synagogue in the Jewish Quarter
//www.travelandtransitions.com/our-travel-blog/prague-2009/prague-jewish-quarter/ Having grown up in Austria, I had never made it to the Czech Republic, ...
There were Spanish Jews in many (chiefly trading) cities of Eastern Europe
- Krakow, Buda (of Budapest), Pressburg (Bratislava), Lwow (Lviv, Lvov),
Zamosc. Sephardic families stayed, often assimilating culturally into the
Ashkenazic majority, which - interestingly - also bore fruit. For example,
one of the three classic writers of Yiddish literature Yitzhak Leybush
Peretz came from a family with Sephardic roots (as his last name attests,
Peretz). (All this, of course, not counting the large Sephardic populations
of Romania, Hungary, and Bulgaria.
There were never Spanish Jews in Prague. Richard , why don t you learn a
bit more about Prague s history before you say something.

@coldshot5555 Yes, it is actually forbidden to work yourself to death with
various McJobs here. Also, up to about six weeks of paid vacation are the
law here for workers each year. Health reasons. Saint-Denis is pretty much
closed on Mondays, Paris on Sundays. Not a 24/7 country. Downtime is sacred
here. It's a quality of life thing. The stuff open on Sundays TENDS to be
tourist-trap-y. If visiting, plan ahead for a quiet Sunday and try to get
invited to someone's home for Sunday lunch!
@valhala56 No, the economy is more vigorous than I have ever seen it since
'94. Every place in France closes 1 day per week. In Paris, it is Sundays.
In Saint-Denis where I live, it is Mondays. Sundays are special in France &
much is closed then. They encourage employers to hire people FULL TIME, not
part time, so they can have a decent, normal life & not work themselves to
death & have various McJobs. Families with one breadwinner only are still
the norm here. Thanks for watching!
@2bsirius As you know, all is not perfect here by any means, but with any
grasp of the culture and French mentalities, it's darn interesting. I
swear, if I get in the bucks bigtime, I am going to get all my doorknobs in
this apartment replaced with nice, old-fashioned American ones! Real KNOBS
and not these dang HOOKS which rip at my clothing! Oh, and screens for the
windows, too! The Germans have figured out how to put 'em in with Velcro,
even with pollen and pollution filters! :)
@slobomotion Well when I come I will declare everyday SUNDAY...FUNDAY...but
I will probably wear myself out entertaining others and thereby
myself....p.s. thanks for lighting up 3 countrys on my YT hit mp, helping
me with my videos...Thanks so much, my sprit soars..sprit?....what's a
sprit? let me ask the Indian Chief sitting right here........he say SPIRIT.
PAILFACE DUMMY! well this is why I'm comming to the big F..xo
@coldshot5555 Great! I charge a lot for advice BUT I also do barter at
ridiculously reasonable rates. My website has details about me and my stuff
and is a way to reach me directly via email. I kind of felt I ought to give
the USA back to the First People and return to my euro-roots. I love it
here but it has been a tough row to hoe! And I'm a ho, I should know! xo
@justjacqueline2004 Glad you like it! I did 20 clips this past Sunday, and
they are here, on CUTECATFAITH, and on Dailymotion under "LisaFalour," with
I think only like maybe one duplicate. I still have one last clip to upload
& haven't decided where it will go yet. Bisoux!
@george4vlogging Thank you. I really try to do these not only as a hobby
but to give some information even if it's just my often rather snide
observations. I adore "slice of life" videos but often with they could
provide lowbar details and more details in general.
Yes, I can try. This particular week was all expenses paid by a client for
a four-star consulting job, so I tried not to scrutinize price tags. He
asked me to keep my room charges down to 1,000 euros for the week, if
possible. I did manage (barely!). :)
If I a suggestion may make, when you are kind enough to point out than
this-or-that is VERY expensive...could you extend that pleasantry a wee-bit
more by giving us an actual $ amt....to illustrate?
I kind of hobble and lurch these days, man, but with a thoughtful guide to
steady me and be patient, I'm usually game! Walked for over an hour in Le
Marais today . . .
