I love all your videos but how is this news worthy? This is a simple
business move. Hundreds of businesses don't do tips. You either choose to
pay a waiter as either a full pay employee or as a waiter.
instead of paying her employees a fair salary we should pay them so we can
help the owners makes more money

Do You Tip in Germany?
Traveling to Germany? You may wonder, Do I tip in Germany? Well the answer is, Yes, You Do Tip in Germany. About 5-10% onto the final bill. USA Today ...
Went to Berlin last year and we were told tourists don't tip. They were so
surprised when we tipped and tipped well we were treated better and ended
up getting free drinks at a restaurant and a few other places. Germany is
so underrated and such an amazing place. Can't wait to visit again.
I was in Germany last month.
To ask for the check, say "Zahlen Bitte."
If your bill/tab is €17 and you intend on leaving €3 as a tip, when you
hand the waiter €20 say "Stimmt So." Same with a bartender. Beer is €3,30.
Give him/her €4 "Stimmt So." You will get a very favorable response and
make a temporary friend.
+RetributionAngel If a bartender is attentive, offers good recommendations and is pleasant, I'm generous and I don't base the amount on how much I know or think that person is compensated. If a bartender is smug or lazy, he/she will get a modest tip. Only once in the last several years have I left zero tip; bartender was clueless.
+Tosh T Yeah caus you tipp to much. 3,50 would be a lot. Usually no tipp for just 1 small beer. 3,30 is allready high for a 0,5L Beer. 2,80 would be a fair price. You dont really need to tipp much. Some penny is ok. Some 2-3,-€ on a bigger bill. Not more than 5,-€If youre haveing a lot of drinks youre best of not tipping becaus they will just assume you always want to tipp the same ammount or more after the first time you tipped. They get paid quit ok as is. They can make a liveing.
+Tosh T "Stimmt so" actually means more like "That's correct like this" = "Das stimmt so", if you translate it directly. In essence you are telling the waiter/waitress through tongue and cheek, that the sum that is printed/written on the bill isn't correct and that the more generous payment, including the tip, that you gave them is more fitting. It just became the normal thing to say for "keep the change" over time.(We tend to cut out the "Das" as it should be obvious from the context. - Nowadays it even would sound weird, if you would still say it.)
