John, you're the best in the business. A great question you asked, and one I've wondered about, is the talent pool of engineers in China. I suspect in a short time they will be among the best in the world.

What China does not have it will bring in and then develop. Geely Auto have purchased Volvo and they will absorb all of that know how into their manufacturing.

Sometimes it is also the vehicle make and model you're dealing with. Some cars are known to have issues in an area. Perfect example: I had an issue where I got what I paid for when I had someone do ball joints cheap on my 87 S10. I ended up putting all 4 Dorman control arms and spindles on it without questioning my purchase because Dorman does make a quality product. But when it came time to do control arms on an 07 Dodge Caliber, I chose to go with Moog Problem Solver arms, because there are known issues with the front ends on them.

I own Toyota,i buy parts from a dealers.Original disc rotors and pads that came with my 2006. Toyota Corolla,i replaced after 115 000 kilometers. Yes,i paid more than I would pay from anywhere else, but I do not think they would last that long. And brake parts are made in the U.S.A..

Rockauto is grate to deal with there prices are really grate as well never had a issue I heard about them though word of mouth from my neighbor and after using them a bunch of times I told all my diy friends about them

If anything it is getting harder, not easier to find good parts Even dealer parts these days lack in quality
