+TJ Barrs I was in the lighting industry during the 80s and it amazes me how they have fooled people on compact fluorescents, in the home setting it takes almost 10+ years for the power savings to pay for the price difference, 10 freaking years pay back what a terrible investment.Now incandescent in my part of the world serve two purposes, 10% of electricity is light 90% is heat generated, in the cool months they help heat the homes.Now here is the crazy part incandescent in cool climates actually help reduce greenhouse gases because you are burning less oil, wood, gas heating your home.Now we burn more fuel in the winter heating our homes because of less light generated heat.I like the really big compact fluorescents only because you can get some very serious little output for low wattage, like I have in the barn they are 105W each and put out 500w of light.Now it is illegal to manufacture them in North America but you can still buy the imported from China, see a trend...
