@bettyskitchen Hi Betty, thanks for getting back with me, this is a old rescipe, and they used to make them all the time, I called my cousin and she said she tore her house apart trying to find this rescipe, they were so good, ( childhood memories ), and I have Gooled it and everything, like I emntioned in my earlier message, after the batter was mixed together, they would form the batter into a log like form and place in the fridge, then after it hard, they would slice and bake, yummy !

Betty, I have been looking for a recipe for a cookie recipe that my older sister and cousin used to make back in the 60's,, refrigerator cookies, and they rolled the dough out in a log form and after it chilled, cut off the cookies to bake, do you know of what I am talking about? They were not sugar cookies.

This is not just a diet channel (as you can see!). I do try to watch the fats and sugars in most recipes, and I make a lot of fat/sugar-free substitutions, as long as it does not affect the outcome of the food. And on holidays, I give the kids ( and big kids) a break! Thanks for your view! --Betty :)

Thanks! My recipe for keeping young is to eat the right foods in small portions and to work out 4 times a week at the gym. I've done this all my adult life, and my weight has not varied more than 3 or 4 pounds in all that time. --Betty :)

Thanks for putting in a word for me! It is hard to keep up daily recipes that meet the needs of different people and to get them edited, uploaded, and responded to! I am inspired and motivated by people like you! Thanks! --Betty :)

@TaylorSelenaROX You will easily get 2 dozen cookies (or more) from the cookie dough. The icing will ice 2 dozen cookies, if you do not spread it thickly. You may store the icing for about 3 days in your refrigerator. --Betty :)

Interesting to know how to make those coloured frostings. Thank you! And even though we don't celebrate Halloween here in Australia, it's good to get ideas on how to make colourful biscuits (cookies for you US folks!)

I actually like the chocolate ones better--and all you have to do is add cocoa to the sugar cookie mixture! Yes, Carter and I had a great time decorating them! Thanks for your sweet comment! --Betty :)

@fairiegirlga That could describe several types of cookies. I will be making cookies before Christmas; maybe I will happen to make the kind you are looking for! --Betty :)

@Funkydunkywoofyxxx These cookies need to be baked at 350 degrees (F) for about 10 minutes. Check them occasionally to make sure they don't get over-done. --Betty :)

@CuPcAkEaTeR123 It is really 2 tablespoons. That measure I used has the shape of a measuring cup, so it does look like more, but it is 2 tablespoons. --Betty :)

No, the cookies are "short" enough (meaning they have enough shortening in them), that they do not need a greased pan. Thanks for clarifying that! --Betty :)

Thank you, Dave, You are so sweet! I plan to do a few things for Thanksgiving and for Christmas. I hope you will enjoy them! Take care, --Betty :)

Instead of the palm shortening? I'm not sure if it would work. It would be a lot softer at room temp but it might work if you chilled it a bit after mixing it and before putting it on the cupcakes. Maybe a combination of coconut oil and chilled coconut milk (the thickened part) would work better because coconut oil alone gets too hard in the fridge.

Another good frosting if no one wants to use shortening. Cream cheese with any sugar sub. you like ,vanilla exct, or try a different flavor there's so many to choice from now.
