Talking about anime tie-in films?

As usual big thanks to Kisa Hart, Eric Dorcean and Sooin Chung for the Q&A, as well as Connor Sawyer for letting me borrow his story. Some of these films can ...

Personally, I liked Milios a lot more than Shamballa. Shamballa got off to a great start but completely fell apart in the second half where as Milios started slowly building this complex plot but it all came together in the third act. It managed to make me actually care about the movie side characters because of the development they gave to the valley's plight. And yeah the animation takes some getting used to (I had the same issue with Hosoda's One Piece film) but I think the added motion made the change worth it. There are sections of that movie that are bursting with personality filled animation from each particular animator, especially Yoshimichi Kameda's scenes.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-hWv96PMP5ng/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAA8/FRofBLt1Jf0/photo.jpg?sz=64
+TheWWIFlyingAce Yeah Kameda's definitely the MVP of the film (and Brotherhood tbh).

What anime was that last quote from?
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Born2Run I provided more sources than just MAL. You shared some biased youtubers to prove your point. I provided sites that list many users, many more than you listed. Not bias bullshit. The fact that you have to say I lost is pathetic, I just stopped messaging because you were  arguing in a circle and I was tired of the "I am right, no I am right" type of conversation. You didn't provide anything in the way of a decent argument so I didn't take you seriously. I find your type of comments annoying and using fallacies like that strengthens or weakens shit is stupid and gave me more reason to stop messaging. You even tried to say I was factually disproven then act like "couldn't handle MY opinion man" kk. lol  you want to act like the bigger man. Come now. "So instead of acting like some fanboy who got attacked you could just take my experience and opinion for what it is. This defensive and whiny attitidue is just pathetic."You didn't just give your opinion, you spoke for everyone. That's why I even said anything. You're pathetic, you started this circle of stupid I just went along for the ride.
https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-RNvKDZ9ftSw/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAADE/iF-3plDUo0Y/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Garfield4thYou didn't provide a single user. You provided a number that doesn't tell me anything because MAL numbers are random as fuck. I on the other hand are able to provide quotes. Shall I quote some of the criticism those people I mentioned said about the ending and Shamballa? It's not pretty. On the contrary you could also provide me some positive stuff people say about the ending and Shamballa. Because I can bet to you that there are more mixed to negative receptions then there are downright positive ones that praise them. Also, you're the one who provides typical responses. Here are some of your typical "I'm out of arguments" responses:- "Come on now. I can't even take you seriously..." (ignoring the actual point of my argument and focusing on something trivial)- "Hopefully people ignore it and actually give the show a shot themselves." (aka making false presumptions about the intention of my comments)- "Just a shame." (judging me instead of focusing on the actual argument, pretty close to ad hominem)I pointed out all your fallacies and now you're accusing me of using fallacies instead. Also typical for desperate people. You have no argument left besides "you're silly" , "you're ignorant" , "you're trolling". All typical for people who know that they lost but aren't willing to admit that.I don't even know why you got so butthurt in the first place. I already told you that I like the original FMA more than Brotherhood and that I also like the ending and Shamballa. So instead of acting like some fanboy who got attacked you could just take my experience and opinion for what it is. This defensive and whiny attitidue is just pathetic.Have a nice day.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Born2Run Anyway since you like to have circular arguments and I don't I am going to end this. You use conformation bias and blanket statements and it's almost like trolling when you blatantly keep going on when someone tells you their intention.  Continue by replying with some fallacy I used or another blanket statement.  If I am desperate for anything it's to break the circle you're so willing to continue. Peace enjoy being ignorant. .
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Born2Run You're saying factually disproven based on one show... that's a hilariously stupid thing to say. You listed a few youtubers, I provided thousands of users. I am not desperate, I just find you silly.  I am getting impatient with your typical responses and don't feel like playing nice with someone like you. You come off new to everything and your argument is weak and repetitive. Oh boy trying to use fallacies to weaken my points? I could counter with another fallacy but it would be as pointless as everything else you have countered with.
https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-RNvKDZ9ftSw/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAADE/iF-3plDUo0Y/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Garfield4thI threw in some famous youtube people. If you like them or not is not the question here. I also think that Digibro is a joke but I still decided to add him because a lot of people see value in him. Also, the Snob loves FMAB and FMAB is much more popular than the original FMA. So you're argument is factually disproven. Also, the fact that you have to use that kind of "can't take you seriously" phrase just proves that I must have a point. Only really desperate people use that phrase in an argument. And saying that how I act is a shame is also not cool. It's just some ad hominem shit. Keep that away. It won't win you any points on the internet anymore.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Born2Run Lol thatanimesnob, dudes a joke. Come on now. I can't even take you seriously when you lump him in as a source for legitimate criticism. He is overly negative about everything out the gate. He thinks almost everything that's good/popular is bad. Continue to generalize falsehoods if you want. Hopefully people ignore it and actually give the show a shot themselves. Just a shame.
https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-RNvKDZ9ftSw/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAADE/iF-3plDUo0Y/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Garfield4thThat generalization is sadly true. Sure there are people who like it but the majority doesn't. That's also reflected by the people who somewhat present the community. GoatJesus, Digibro, JesuOtaku and ThatAnimeSnob have all articulated their disdain for either the ending of the Shamballa movie. Community representatives who liked the movie? I don't know any. There is one guy who made a lot of good points about the ending but he's barely even known (HailZeon, watch his "The people vs FMA" video on Blip). It's true that it's impossible to generalize everyone's thoughts but I think by talking to a lot of people and look at the ones who are generally highly regarded in the community as critics we can somewhat determine what the fans generally think of it.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
" I'm actually one of the few people on the internet who likes the ending and Shamballa " Ugh come now I just stated my whole point in the first place for the conversation is because that generalization isn't true. Well I apologize for making the assumption, but that's the common argument so I jumped to it as your reasoning. However again I gave other reasons for why what you're saying doesn't make sense besides MAL. But anyway I disagree that a high 7 is bad, even with the skewed rating system. But in the end it all comes down to opinion, and I think instead of saying the general public didn't like something we should say why we personally like or dislike something.  If you enjoyed FMA more than brotherhood I would think you would agree there Otherwise instead of just throwing out confirmation bias we should actually encourage people to watch things. Or give our personal reasons for them to  not watch it.
https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-RNvKDZ9ftSw/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAADE/iF-3plDUo0Y/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Garfield4thlol you think I prefer Brotherhood? Why would you think that? I never said I prefer Broho nor did I say that I dislike the ending or Shamballa. I'm actually one of the few people on the internet who likes the ending and Shamballa which is why I get into so many discussions about it as everyone keeps telling me that it sucks or that it was a general disappointment. Also, again, a 7 is considered a bad score on MAL. I gave Broho a 7 and one dude came to me asking why I gave it such a bad score.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Born2Run Your personal experience doesn't provide any data I can say "yeah I see your point to. I can counter it by saying "I haven't and I have talked to many who liked it"a 7.79 isn't bad by MAL standards. Sure all ratings are messed up since no one follows the same grading scales. However 7.79 is leaning towards 8 which is mixed to positive not mixed to negative. I could google reviews and I bet the top sites almost all gave it generally positive reviews. ANN, popular blogs, hell even rotten tomatoes I bet has a good score for it. (just checked 90% liked it out of 30,000 on RT) Again, I would say you and your friends most likely compare it to Brotherhood and that's where you view it negatively in comparison. However as a stand alone piece before Brotherhood came along, it was generally received positively . I am not denying it has it's issues but I just don't want people dismissing a good show/movie because people say things like "not well received by fans." "Some hate it some say it's alright." or "and was terribly received by fans." and that's just not the case.
https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-RNvKDZ9ftSw/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAADE/iF-3plDUo0Y/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Garfield4thI had tons of arguments about FMA and the main complain people have is that the ending sucks. Also, people on MAL don't know that scores below 7 exist. So a 7 as the first number is a comparatively low score.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Born2Run Well we will just have to disagree. Not easy to argue how people perceive things all I will say is the series holds a 8.31 (from Myanimelist) score from close to 30,000 people rating it. The movie dropped to a 7.79 which isn't leaning towards negative. I don't see how you can say "generally not well received" If anything most ratings and reviews are mixed to positive about the show/movie. The negative aspect comes when compared to Brotherhood. However if you look at Milos in comparison to Shamabala and there is no denying it was a better movie critically.
https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-RNvKDZ9ftSw/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAADE/iF-3plDUo0Y/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Garfield4thThe ending of the first FMA was generally not well received by fans.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Born2Run Yeah most things are mixed no problem with that  but terribly received by fans, not so much.
https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-RNvKDZ9ftSw/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAADE/iF-3plDUo0Y/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Garfield4th Was kinda mixed. Some hate it some say it's alright.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
+ARandomGuy No it wasn't, I rarely heard/hear criticisms for Conqueror of Shamballa. It was creative, had great animation, and was a good conclusion to the series. I have rarely heard negative feedback besides people saying they enjoy Brotherhood as a story more. But "terribly received by fans" is a huge stretch.
https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-51MnAo_Pf0M/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAFo8/c2tYc-dI4Vs/photo.jpg?sz=64
+CaptainSnowflake Fullmetal Alchemist the Movie: Conqueror of Shamballa. The movie is meant to be watched after the series and was terribly received by fans.

+Breda Jake heheh, in certain parameters. in sparta the bride posed as a male on nuptial night, but actual homosexuality was still punished by death. the variety of greek cities cultures is a great studies of the influence of need on the genesis of morality.

+Klaus Von Liechtenstein Of course some of them did, the ancient Greeks worshiped the ideal naked human form and homosexual behavior was tolerated and often encouraged within certain social parameters in some Greek states, especially Sparta.

This doc is horrible IMO. If Greek, city state warfare were as complete, bloody and total as described it couldn't have gone on for more than 20 years. The populations were too small. In city state warfare the victorious army did not slaughter all routed foes, that would have been considered horrifically barbaric to them. Total annihilation of one's foe came along with the true barbarians, the brutish thugs of Roma! Rome was willing, like modern day United States, to spend any amount of it's poorest citizens lives in efforts to conquer in a manner the Greeks found appalling.

the war can teach to the conquered people new religion, values, language, alphabet,. ......................we have more than 7 billions on earth.................. only one nation one language will bring peace on earth. my language is português do brasil.

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
One nation and one language would mean one government. One group of wealthy people telling the whole world how they MUST behave and act? No thanks. That sounds like a recipe for world enslavement. We need simply to accept and RESPECT different cultures and beliefs and understand that we are many facets of what makes up this planet. Most wars are created from manipulation of truth and convincing the population they must go to war by scare tactics, visions of divination, telling them "this is our land." Whose land is it? Who decided that someone had claim to certain land. Someone OWNS it, and its not the people that live there. Whether you call a piece of land Russia, USA, Chile or anything else, does not change the soil you grow your food in or raise your family on. It only changes the politics. It is NOT in man's nature to kill, murder and pillage. That has to be bread into them and been abused by people in power to achieve their own personal objectives. Once you make your first kill in the military (which is a celebrated achievement for whatever reason) you are never the same again. We have been desensitized to many things that go against our nature as human beings, in order that we can be controlled.Cut the planet into as many invisible lines as possible I say. More variety the better. As soon as you start taking lines away though, you have a group of people who don't believe in the ideologies of the "new country" that are living directly in it. These people need to be removed in order for the new country to be "peaceful." So they are either force to emigrate or are murdered. If the leaders win, they are slaughtered. In order for the people to win in this situation is civil war against the leaders controlling the new country. Removing borders creates wars. If you take away ALL borders, you would have every culture in the world being told how to live by one group of people who do not think the same way. Imagine the mayhem that would come of this. Cultures would be pit against cultures in order to eliminate them and protect the people controlling the world nation. The blame would not be put on the controllers, but the dissenters who do not agree with the world government. The leaders would no longer turn towards other countries to earn their paycheck, but the very people in the new world nation. Imagine how many people would have to die in order for one ideology to be able to control in peace? Globalization will only lead to more death and destruction... guaranteed. It's the good old:"These people don't think like us or live like us. They are scary to us and we need to go get them.... So be afraid for your family because these scary people want to kill them. Now that you are scared, pick up this rifle and shoot it where I tell you. Don't worry about you coming home a broken person on this account, you are strong and can overcome the urges to commit suicide. But hey, your family is still alive and believe me, those people you killed... would have killed your family had you not done it to them first. Now go outside, see if you can find any of those people we had you shoot at. If you find any, make sure they don't feel comfortable on the soil they live their lives. For they do not want to live in peace and raise their family, they are always plotting against us. So we must rid these vermin from the great land we call (said country)."
https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/--5WqU3NoAEU/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAEE/Fv9xvzmVIis/photo.jpg?sz=64
no,cause even in your own land is no peace. So don't be foolish..People will fight over anything and everything, and when nothing to fight about, something will be Made to fight about.
