+Carlos Malave buy solar electric...fuck the criminal politicians may they hang high for war crimes soon....dark energy being and supporters...oil pig bastards of darkness.....thank you all white light energy consumers and beings..the world need more of us! god bless
That sounds plausible. In Ontario we do have a lot of nuclear power that helps things. I would love to see new generations of nuclear power with an increase in solar and wind to reduce it even more.
+Jeffrey Drake even in the worst case scenario for power generation EVs outperform almost every gas car on the market when it comes to cradle-to-grave emissions. And as the grid gets cleaner they improve by the day. Source: //www.ucsusa.org/clean-vehicles/electric-vehicles/life-cycle-ev-emissions
I'm glad to see EVs are taking off in the US. The big questions are: 1. can
the US power grid and power availability meet the new charging demand of
EVs? 2. How are states collecting road taxes from EVs when they
traditionally got those taxes from gasoline sales? 3. Will EVs be
attractive to motorists when the incentives are phased out?
Yes, increasing annual registration fees, on cars using the most gasoline or using it least efficiently, and lowering or eliminating fees on electrics and hybrids, according to a similar scale.
+Casanova Frankenstein Electric utilities have seen little to no load growth since 2007. They are desperate to see demand go up. I suspect larger investor owned utilities will begin to offer their own incentives, much like they do to get you to replace a gas water heater with an electric model.
+Casanova Frankenstein Good points. There are multiple studies on grid demand that discount this concern. Consider in part that most EV charging will be done overnight while grid demand is low. See //cleantechnica.com/2014/02/03/grid-capacity-electric-vehicles-actually-problem-studies-find. Road taxes - we are not yet anywhere near the market penetration where this is a major concern, but it will become an issue eventually. I imagine one way of dealing with it is increasing annual vehicle registration fees. Lastly, I do think EVs will be attractive as they reach price parity and this will come with technological improvement and thanks to mass market production. Right now they are still being produced on a small scale.
