Overcoming the Odds: Oklahoma State Football
Oklahoma State's cornerback, Martel Van Zant, is deaf. But that doesn't hold him back on the field. Brought to you by CSTV.
thats sort of cool that he can only hear the beating of his own heart...
makes him focus more on the field than anyone else.. he a sick player tho..
that would suck so much not ever being able to hear music.. music is one of
the most inspirational things to get you pumped befo the game... he got my
respect
there was also a clip on a local station's sports update today - his
comment "when they trash talk me i don't care - can't hear it, and when i
trash 'sign' them - they can't understand it!" gotta love his outlook on
life and we should all take note. GO POKES!!

Really cool. My freshman year was Barry Sanders last year at OSU, so their
athletic team has always been great at spotting potential talent. I hope he
has a great, successful career at where ever his talents lead him.
I am a die hard Sooner fan but it was greart to see a young man get praise
for something other then playing on the field. It was a great story and had
no idea it was like this on The Cowboys sidelines.
The cool thing about him is he is a great athlete obviously and hes not
stuck up. I messaged him on facebook not excpecting him to reply but he did
and we had a convo. Awesome guy. Best of luck to him
He is an awesome guy, I just wish he could have NFL, he deserved it too!!!
This vid was made in 2006 and The Pokes had good seasons with him around.
GOOOOOOOOO POKESSSSSSSSSS!!!
Truly inspiring story! Great to see such a warm hearted story. His parents
should be very proud of their son! I think it's a great story of hope and
courage! Extraordinary!
I may be a Sooner fan, but I have huge respect for the Pokes. And it has
been fun watching Martel take it to the inzone on more than one occasion...
LET'S GO POKES!!!
Failure is that point when we allow ourselves to stop striving. Physical
limitation does not define life; spirit does. Thank You for being a role
model for all youth.
This video is so inspiring. I would love to see more videos like this on
YouTube. Keep playing man, you are truly an inspiration to anyone with a
dream and drive.
Another great story of human success. Very encouraging to anyone, who are
completely healthy, feeling lazy and blue. Get off your ass and
accomplish!!!
