@MrCumstein There’s no logic behind my statement that the r/c car in this
video is slower than the r/c cars nowadays? First off, even if the
statement were incorrect, it would still be “logical”. Just factually
incorrect. You are mistaking “logic” with “accuracy”. That aside, the car
is clearly slower. I own a handful of these things, but not to drive them.
They are inferior, performance-wise (if you can even use the word for
toys). I own them because of their value as collectors items.
@masmddds You sorta missed my point as well man, and I stand by my use of
the word "logic" in this situation. It's referring to your thought process
behind the statement. If you want to make your statement factually correct,
perhaps you should have said "all other things being equal, cars of today
will out-perform older cars". Meaning same
motor/engine/battery/fuel/etc...in each car. Otherwise your statement is
meaningless. And it's a nice car dude, I wish I still had mine :-)
I have a Kyosho Optima - even have the original manual for both the car and
vintage acoms techniplus transmitter! original motor with it as well as a
Marbisha and a Demon 17T. Think it had a 15t motor fitted at the moment
with a Futaba MC1128 ESC from way back when. Have two invoices from 1991
for a motor kit and another for some other bits - gearing parts. The shell
is in fair to good condition and I think this car is from the mid to late
80's - any idea on value?
@masmddds That's just because the stock Optima ran a tin-can Mabuchi 540
motor, which sucked no matter what car you put it in. The Turbo Optima with
the Le Mans 240SB motor was wickedly fast. Furthermore, with a hardened
final pinion gear installed, a 25-plus-year-old Turbo Optima can handle a
pretty hot EZRun motor & ESC combo quite capably, and with the better
suspension, probably out-perform a lot of Traxxas crap out there today. ;)
Nice Optima, I noticed the number 5 decals on the body are the same as box
art, all the Optima's I've seen including my first one, that I don't have
anymore, have a different style number 5. I'll have to get my Javelin
running (just needs a motor, speedy and reciever) so I can do a vid of it
and one of my Optima's together. I've also noticed that a lot of RC car
vids end with them running into the camera.
Thumbs up if Kyosho should re-issue their older kits (Ultima series, Optima
and Optima Mid series, Rocky series, Scorpion series, Gallop, etc) like
Tamiya has. Maybe slightly upgraded to handle modern power systems.
@utterback12 I know what you mean, I have my (I believe quite rare now)
Kyosho Salute, and it is a shelf queen. Even has a kyosho 240SB motor..
Cheers!
