Lightning is not a plasma, it isn't hot enough, I never said that iron or any solid at that could become a plasma. I am saying that every plasma is 7 thousand Celsius or higher.

+Chase Brock Obviously it's going to be several thousand degrees celsius, but if I heated up some iron to the temperature of helium plasma, it wouldn't become a plasma. Anyway, that doesn't change the fact that lightning is a plasma.

+Chase Brock That's like saying there is a designated heat for gas. There isn't. It's just another form of matter. Getting hydrogen, helium or oxygen to become plasma would take a lot less heat than getting iron to do it, for example.

The surface of the sun is plasma, although it's less than 7k. There isn't a designated heat for plasma. And actually, after research I have found that Lightning is about 30,000 degrees, which is much hotter than the surface of the sun, I guess I was wrong about that, but it's still plasma.

The sun is primarily made of plasma. That is an irrefutable fact. The surface is 5.778k but the centre is 15 million degrees celsius.
