Vacuum leak checking glass to metal seals with acetone and a Tesla coil
An example of vacuum leak checking with acetone and a Tesla coil on a leaky indium seal. This method of leak checking is useful when a vacuum gauge or ...
Electro Technic Products - Turning a Light Bulb Into a Plasma Globe
In this video I have hook up an old model BD-50 Electro Technic Products leak detector to a simple, clear light bulb. The bulb acts like a plasma globe, as, like a ...
Homemade MINI Tesla Coil 20000 V - mali teslin transformator TEST 1
Homemade tesla coil, not perfectly tuned but working. There is some leaking on capatitors and primary coil. Teslin trafo kućne izrade, prvi testovi uz mnogo ...
What is Electronic Leak Detection?
Electronic Leak Detection or ELD is a well known leak investigation service. ELD identifies and pinpoints defects in flat roofing membranes, enabling targeted ...

helium leak detector used to test vacuum tube feedthroughs
When making vacuum tubes or any other glass-metal seal that has to be hermetic, you have to test it in some way. The helium leak detector is the most sensitive ...
Hello! Easily orders of magnitude more sensitive. One of the most
substantial differences is that this can measure leaks in a glass-metal
seal, which a tesla coil cannot. Also, it can measure leaks that you cannot
get to with the tesla coil by blowing helium into an opening that leads
down into an apparatus. I use the tesla coil for gross leak testing in the
external glass joints, which it is very good at. But you can have a small
leak and the arc will not really be that different from normal.
I think the image distortion is for a special wide view lens (fisheye) .
Glasslinger, did you ever try to seal electrodes by collapsing the pipe of
glass around the metal electrode?? Procedure: Put a one side closed glas
pipe with an electrode wire inside . Feed some neutral gas like argon
inside the pipe , make vacuum than heat with flame the middle rotating the
pipe. The glass should be closing around the wire and the external pressure
should be perfectly sealing it...
For what it's worth, you could probably make a dry-ice/ethanol slurry, and
it would work fine in the cold-trap. If you ever need to do ultra-high
vacuum work, you should probably use the cold-trap. However, you would need
to tear down everything before the cold-trap, and scrub the hell out of it,
as it would likely be a bit oil-contaminated just from normal use of the
system.
No, it was done by youtube! When you upload sometimes you get a message,"
your video is shaky, should we fix it?" DON'T DO IT! SAY NO! The
undulations are the result of their "fix!" I'll get a chance to upload the
video again the way it was without the undulations!
Ron, I'll send you a camera so that we can enjoy a bit better videos from
you in the mean time. its a little sanyo unit, but you can zoom the thing
way in, and it willmaintain a sharp focus as close as about 8-10" I dont
use it that much, interested?
Oh! I just went and looked at the video again and see what you mean! That
is NOT in the original video! Youtube said the video had "shake" in it and
they could fix it. I don't know if THAT is fixing it! Gads!:)
