Question will this hitch fit on a 2015 Ram 1500? I was mistakenly sent this
when I had ordered another brand and after reading the reviews I would much
rather have this one if it will fit.
+S Topper Yes it will. There are few hitches that fit that truck, check them out here: //www.curtmfg.com/HitchLookup/find?mount=Rear+Mount&year=2015&make=Ram&model=1500&style=Except+with+Factory+Receiver
+Randy Corle The weight carrying capacity of this specific Class 3 hitch is 6,000 lbs. You've estimated 5,300 lbs. total trailer weight. We recommend finding out the exact weight of your '57 Chevy and the trailer to make sure you do not exceed the capacity. Alternatively, you could upgrade your hitch to either the CURT #14374 Class 4 hitch rated for 10,000 lbs., or the Curt #15572 Class 5 hitch rated at 15,000 lbs. Hope this helps, always tow safely!
The CURT 13333 has a 6,000lb Weight Carrying Capacity. This is adequate for most towing situations, however if your towing more weight, CURT also offers higher capacity hitches. To find all the options for your vehicle, go to curtmfg.com and use the Quick Hitch Lookup tool.
CURT Manufacturing trailer hitches are American-Made, and perform brilliantly at your command. It really all depends on what you plan on towing, and what kind of vehicle you'll be towing with. I have a 2004 hemi ram regular cab with 3.92 gears and pulling my 26 foot
travel trailer and another 5 x10 trailer behind that with a golf cart at 60
mph gets 8.9 mpg. How fast do you go pulling your camper? I find that 60 is
fast enough and saves you mpg. Mine gets about 19 to 21 unloaded but it's a
regular cab.
Did you use overdrive or no? I have the 6spd and 3.55 rear end, ill start
pulling a horse trailer next year, im curious on how ill do with MPG.
What do you average normally without the trailer?
I feel your MPG is a little low. If anything else, thank you for uploading
and sharing!
+David TurnerOh you have the 5spd auto..gotcha. Well that makes sense for the MPG you received. I dont know if my 6spd will do much better. I sometimes wish i got the 8spd, but im very happy so far.
I usually play around a bit with the overdirve. Use it down hills and not on the flats or uphill. This summer I pulled the camper from the Canadian border to Ocean City Maryland about 500 miles. Mostly interstate driving and kept my speeds between 60 and 65. I averaged 6.5 MPG both down and back. The Hemi with the 5 speed tranny just does not do well on the MPG's towing. I have a friend who has the Hemi with the new 8 speed and he is getting 9.5 to 10 towing his camper and 21 to 22 on the interstate.Without the trailer on the interstate I get between 17.5 and 19.5 depending on hills.
I have 2012 RAM 1500 sport crew cab I love the ride I wish my fuel economy
was a little better I'm averaging 14 to 16 between fill ups I put regular
grade in I was wondering if you use regular or mid grade and how many miles
do you have on your truck now I'm at 15,000 I bought it a year ago and it's
been a great truck so far no problems and plenty of power
I was thinking the same thing my ideal truck would be a 2500 diesel but in reality I don't need that much truck I have been giving it some thought as well about that ecodiesel it would be plenty of truck for me and I believe it's suppose to get around 25 mpg
I use regular grade. Mileage suffers in the winter I get about what you do 14 to 16 mpg's. I have 38000 miles on it now. I love the sound of the truck and the way it rides. I use it mostly for towing. I'm considering the new ecodiesel but I'm waiting for somemore tests on towing mileage to see if it is worth the extra cost.
By the way great video I want to go to hilton head,SC it will be a 850 mile trip with me my wife and three year old son but my wife wants to take the Chrysler town and country I would like to hear my hemi pull up the hills but she wants to take the mini van lol
@Sadie- It is still necessary to remove the big tab. I tried to avoid this
however there just wasn't enough give to get the clip to go over the front
lip of the mirror.
2015 Ram 2500 Cummins take on the grueling Ike Gauntlet towing review
//www.TFLtruck.com ) The 2015 Ram 2500 Cummins looks mean in all black. This is the Laramie package 4x2 with the RamBox. The 6.7L I6 Cummins lurks ...
time check 4:43 what's that hanging down on the passenger side for the
front axle? can't be the pumpkin they been driver side drop Since 94... the
one in the video is 2wd too so I'm at a loss
+David SandersYeah. I own a 14 which is when they came out with this radius arm re-work. Basically copied the way ford has done theirs for a while. I think it's in an efford to increase the life of the front end parts and improve the geometry. Not a fan of the way the things kinda hang down but, if you look at aftermarket suspension manufacturers like Carli, if you have an older 4 link front end, they generally convert it to a longtravel radius arm. And those guys know what they're doing.
+David Sanders It's the radius arm connection point. The point where it connects to the axle is massive. It just stands out more due to lack of pumpkin.
Great video, I love the "hum" of the Cummins when towing/hauling. I
recently purchased a 2015 Tradesman Crew cab 4x4 CTD for 42k. I really like
the blacked out edition you tested, but 61k for a 4x2, YIKES!!! The
tradesman is by far the best bang for the buck if you don't mind having
less options, plus the resale value of a Ram 2500/3500 equipped with the
Cummins is super high. Heck, you can't even touch a new F-150 for 42k. I
have owned Ford's as well, both diesel and gas and they were good trucks,
but when it comes to diesels, Cummins is the way to go hands down. My truck
is completely stock and I can average anywhere from 18-22 mph highway at
7,000 ASL (Above sea level).
My 01' and 05' were not modded. In my 06' I tried the "Quadzilla" and my EGT's were sky high so I removed it immediately. Other than that I have left them all stock, with the exception off adding intakes. I like the sound the intake gives off when the turbo spools up and it really woke up the exhaust brake on the 15' I have now.
Were your previous CTD's modified engine wise any? If so, what'd you change?I think when my warranty is up I'm going to look into emissions intact tuning through EFI live. I have spoken to several people who've had good results with mild tow tunes. Namely a slight mpg gain along with some added power. We'll see when the time comes I suppose.
I have thought "very briefly" about deleting my truck. It only has 10k miles on it and I have had it almost one year. It will cost over 2k to delete everything properly and on top of that if anything major fails on the truck (fuel pump, lift pump, injector, etc) the dealership will tell you to kick rock because they will not cover it.Somebody I talked to brought up a good point. Whey mess with it, you have a 5/100k powertrain warranty. Plus Cummins put millions designing these engines so why would they give it that type of warranty if they did not have faith in their product. Another thing is, if I were to do the deletes, I would gain maybe 2 mpg, which sounds good but it would take forever to make my money back on 2k + dollars.I almost bought a GMC Duramax, but I could not beat the deal on my Ram. 42k or 55k for the GMC. I would have been happy with both, but I love my Ram. This is the 4th Ram 2500 I have owned with the CTD. Never have had a problem with one of them.
+Carlos HerreraFunny you mention that. One of MY co-workers bought a 15 DRW duramax at the beginning of last year. He was complaining about the mileage from the get-go. He was getting 12mpg empty in ideal conditions.I Had a 2009 Duramax and it was pretty good on fuel, so I told him that was not normal especially with a truck with DEF. So he decides to delete it against my advice to wait it out, and actually got his mileage back sold all his dpf and emissions equip. So about about 3 months ago we learned in advance that new government standards in our area are going to mandate that 1 ton trucks (which have to undergo safety inspections every year where i live) must now be checked for emissions equipment or fail the inspection. And if you fail... no insurance. So he traded in a brand new beautiful 15 gmc for a brand new 15 cummins 6.7HO. A costly decision, but replacing the emissions in the duramax was quoted to him for 10k. Ouch.
I think the biggest thing that changed was the addition of UREA. Using the UREA causes the engine to go into "Regen" a lot less than the old model 6.7. I'm sure they did some more updates as well but that is the biggest one I can think of. I live at 7,000' elevation here in NM and the best I can average about 19-20 mpg depending on the wind that day. I'm pretty sure if I lived at sea level I could average about 20-22 mpg.One of my co-workers just bought a 2015 F-250 Powerstroke Platinum. It's a beautiful truck, but he is only averaging 11 mpg. That Sucks!!!
+Carlos Herrera I had an 08 6.7 before this and whatever they did between that year and my 2014 upped the mileage by a good 4mpg. My 08 would get 18 at best and i'm seeing upwards of 22 with this one.And yeah, I think in the video they're literally reading you the window msrp. Nobody (that i'm aware of) pays that.Mine is a 2014 Laramie Limited. Has everything. Window sticker price was 80 grand.... no way I'd pay that for a truck. Bought it at year end for 50 and change.
I like these "Ike Gauntlet" reviews very much and thee guys really do a
great job of explaining all the trucks that they review. I wonder, however,
if testing these vehicles at 11,000' altitude is desirable? I would think
that every engine, diesel or gas would lose a substantial amount of power,
maybe 25-30% at that altitude. Does TFL Truck do any testing elsewhere?
+METALITHrevetments It would have been nice if they had the boost screen up so we could see the PSI. The Cummins is only going to lose half what a gas engine loses as it goes up in altitude.
