Hi Mike part3,When the Screwdriver is pushed up to its high its position
then check the markings on the Gears (as above ) if they match I believe
that you have found TDC, if not matched then turn again, and keep checking
the position of the Screwdriver and the dot & arrow are lined up. This
should get your timing about right ready to refit the Distributor and get
you going ready for fine adjustment to the Distributer when tuning your
car. Good luck Terry (Staffslad1)
Hi - I just completely striped the servo. Used sand paper, sanded by hand.
Then a paint which is used industrial pipe work and ships /boats. The paint
is called Rust-Oleum (CombiColor) one coat of primer, and two coats of
paint. Painted on with a brush. Grey Primer 3380. (anti rust) Top coats
Grey smooth RAL 9006 & Black smooth RAL 9006, all anti rust paints and can
clean brushes with White Sprits. Its the best anti rust paint I have ever
used. Terry (Staffelad1)
Hi Nick part 1. Engine Block and Ancillaries to the engine. is a Cellulose
based paint. 500ml Gloss Black Enamel paint ( 7 610 QD ) heat resident up
to 105 c. also very high temperature paint Grey Matt Enamel ( HTS )
resident up to 600c so you can use it on the Manifold.Heat resident paints
were ordered from BS Supplies. Tell them it is to be applied by hand
brushing. BS then mixes the paint up in a machine and you can order
whatever amount you want to use. Terry
Hi Mike. Par1.Well Im no expert, but this is how I will do it.. On the
Timing Gears there are 2 permeate marks,( dot & arrow ) you line them up
together on a bench with chain, next to each other, ( like looking at a
clock face, pointing in a 2 oclock direction) When you put everything back
in the Engine Block, you re-fit the Chain (Large)Gear to the Camshaft also
the Chain (small)Gear to the Crankshaft. Terry
Hi, Terry! I discovered your video blog a couple of weeks ago and have
viewed every posting. I am swapping engines in my 74 roadster just now and
your postings have been an inspiration to me. You've done a lot of work to
your car and it looks fantastic. Keep up the good work and please up date
us with part 14 soon. I am dying to see this car finished and you taking it
out for a spin! Best Wishes, Peter D.
Hi Nick part 2 Engine Ancillaries that are not attached to the Engine, I
use an Anti-Rust paint made by Rust-Oleum. You can get this paint from
Decor8, in Gloss or Matt finishers and also get any colour you want, just
ask Decor8 and they will mix it for you. After several coats, it seems me
to be better quality finish than the paint you get of the self at most
Motor Accessories Stores. Terry.
Hi Ted. Thanks for your comments, great to hear from you. I am at the stage
where I seem to be doing is restoring the bits & bobs to go back on the

the Enginge Block, just the Carb's left to do then start on the Gearbox.
Weather good - warming up now, and alot more light at the end of the day.

Hi Peter Thanks for your comments, I finished the Engine Block, and just
finishing the odds & sodds that are attached to the Block. Got to keep
pushing because I want to be on the road by the end of this summer at least
,if not before. Will start puting stuff back in the Engine Bay soon then
the Engine. Wil keep all posted with more Blogs. Terry.
when you take an engine to bits how do you sort out the engine timing when
putting it all back together? i know you can mark everything up for
realignment but there likely to get lost when cleaning, repainting exc,
looking into starting a project soon, ive done a fair bit on cars before
but not to that extent so any info will help. ta, mike
Hi Mike part2, While using a large socket on the Pulley Nut (with out the
Pulley) you rotate the Engine to get the Gears to fit on the shafts. Then
while turning, using a screw driver in the number 1 Cylinder via the Spark
Plug hole, you again rotate, then the Screwdriver will move up and down.
Terry
Hi Nick. Yes I have done another Blog, but have not yet uploded, been
having problems with my computer. Hopfully by the end of the weekend will
have uploaded the new Blog. Terry (Staffslad1)
How did you get your servo looking like that? Is that just cleaned or did
you paint it with something. If it's just cleaned what was the process? Mine
looks so grimey.
