DC Comics Guide to Digitally Drawing from Photoshop, to Manga Studio - Scribbles with Jonathan Here is a little tutorial to hopefully help some of you out when ...
Do you use an on screen tablet or not? Cus I can't draw lines like that
without having to ctrl+z 100 times before getting it the way I like. Using
a wacom bamboo :/
+V A generic low end computer bought from a big box store. Sorry you're experiencing problems. If your cursor is jumping around, it sounds like a driver issue.
+Jonathan Rector On my PC the cursor of Photoshop CS3 jumps around yet on yours it's so smooth, with an Aero theme it's even worse. Also use an Intuos 3. What sort of computer did you use at this time?
here is why inking in manga studio 4 is so great: if you are working in
black and white (2bit) mode (even at ridiculous resolutions like 10,000 x
14,000 pixels at 1200ppi) there is virtually no lag. none. you can sketch
and draw at full speed and it feels amazing. get a cheap copy of Manga
Studio ex4 and buy Ray Frenden's brush pack and just have a great time with
grandma and all the cousins.
+erik cyree Frenden's brush pack is great. I haven't had the need to use all the brushes in it, but I love the pens and pencils, and various inking things. I think there was even some half decent watercolor brushes that are fun to use.I never considered setting a picture to Black and White mode to reduce lag. I should try it. Thanks for the info.
+brain gamer I know this is a late reply. But I saw it and decided anyway. The "Elements" series of Adobe programs, from what I remember anyway, are slightly cheaper programs, but they have a lot less features. They're not bad, but if you're going to buy Photoshop, it'd probably be worth waiting, saving up some money, and buying the full version. In the mean time, to even be sure you want to try digital art, and attempt using Photoshop, I suggest the program "Kirta". The main reason, it's free. Krita is 100% free, and it's honestly not too far off of Photoshop. It's missing a few photo-editing features, but it has everything you'd need for drawing. It's the closest you can get to PS for free. They're even trying to add support for Photoshop Brush importing from what I heard, so that might be a thing in the future. Even if it's not though, you can still make your own, and download other people's custom Krita brushes. On the other hand, Manga Studio(and Clip Studio Paint, they're the same program) isn't all that expensive, and personally, I think it's great. I enjoy drawing in Clip Studio/Manga Studio more than I do in Photoshop.

Been on the fence for a while but after watching your review, I finally
bought a copy this morning. I've been drawing almost exclusively digitally
for many years now, but I feel there are still a lot of technical stuff I
need to learn, like doing clean lines, paths, and all those stuff, and
after hearing good things about this from you and from other reviewers, I'm
positive it'll help me immensely. I'm excited to get my hands on it.
Hey Jonathan, Please respond to this: Is it possible to draw on paper but
