What I can tell you is that I made this video BEFORE I learned to leave my steak out for at least an hour to let it get up to room temp. I have question when I focus on the front sight the target gets blurry so I was wondering if this can decrease accuracy or effect target acquisition time? my theory is that focusing on the target would give me a clearer view of what I was shooting and even though the front sight was blurry it would still be more beneficial to have a clear view of my target, especially in a tactical situation with the potential of multiple/ moving targets, what are your thoughts on this? thanks!

IMHO you can not have an eye dominance 'problem' when you only have one eye open. You might have a vision problem, or a sight alignment problem that makes you shoot less accurately, but it can't be a left/right dominance issue. I'm Rt handed and Left eye dominant. When shooting with both eyes open, the problem is easily accommodated simply by turning my head slightly to the right. Granted, I'm a defensive, not bullseye shooter .. 5 inch groups at 7 yards are perfectly acceptable.

So if I continue to shoot right handed, is there anything I need to do to be the best I can be using my weaker eye ? I have tried several times to shoot with both eyes open while using a scope, with very mixed reviews.

To find out which eye is dominant you could just strech out one of your arms, make a fist put your thumb out in front of your face and aim it at something which is more than 2-3 yards away. If your thumb moves with either of your eyes, that would be the non dominant eye. If the thumb stays on the "target", it is your dominant eye. That's cheeper and easier than to fire 8 live ammunition.

If one eye is closed, by default the open eye is 'dominant'. If you are shooting with only one eye, either eye, and the bullet impact is off of POI, it isn't a dominance issue. It's one of two things, trigger issues, or, more likely, the non-dominant eye is less acute and thus you can't get as good a sight picture as you can with your dominant. That's why it's the non-dominant eye. . .

Wow, totally confused me at 5:27. Eye dominance can cause more EFFORT to obtain a sight picture, but once that picture is locked in you will hit where the weapon is aimed. If your wife is off target with her left eye, she is not locking in the sight picture. Otherwise a good tutorial for those with my problem of crossed eye dominance.

@bfgguns Darn it! Now that you spilled the beans my wife knows and I cant use this as an excuse to go to the range ;) joke. Your right about this, but when I teach it seems to make a bigger difference when they can do this and shoot (see the results first hand). Good info

yup good point 817riverparkmusic. i was gonna suggest the same thing except make a circle with your hand and look through the circle at a specific object. remember to look at the object with BOTH eyes first before closing one or the other. : )

i am right handed but left eye dominant, i cannot 'wink' with my left eye meaning i have to shoot left handed. Any help? some guns i cant use otherwise the blowback loader hits into my chin and is on the wrong side for me to pull =(

Nope, I'm the same, I also write left handed but that's the only thing I do left handed you can't change those kind of things, but you can become better with your right eye, however it will never be as good as your left

just shot shit on the range. usmc. left handed, right eye dominate. 2 other guys on my target had same problem but they just shot with dominate eye switching to other hand. i think ill do the same next time.

You know many people that have eye dominant problems just need to wear the corrective lenses that have been prescribed for them. Optical power can be responsible for eye dominance. Just a note

+vitaly deuterium er, the iron is an 883 Sportster. I took mine in for first service at 985 miles on Tuesday, this week. They gave me the option of waiting for it or lending any demonstrator bike outside, there were six or seven or so. ;-)The iron is the right size for me really at the moment, as a new rider. Anyway, I thought I'd try the new 48 - its the same frame as the iron, same tank as mine now, the peanut one, but it has forward controls, different forks and suspension and its a 1200 instead of 883cc. I've got to say I loved riding the new 48 ;-) I'd not tried the forward controls before but on that size bike they suit me much better than the mid controls, probably because of my height. A 1200 in that size bike is quite 'nippy' too, if you know what I mean. I found the forward controls really helped with cornering too, for me anyway. I've some footage of riding the 48 home and back to the dealers and I was wondering whether to post some of it, because I didn't vlog really, just enjoyed the ride. I'll probably switch mine to forward controls fairly soon. Oh, Andy, one of my riding instructors, says the bigger bikes are easier to ride, apparently, and he's a Harley nut who knows a lot about them. I've not tried them yet though, and I understand that the Sportster range is the biggest seller for Harley-Davidson. Cheers

The 2016 irons have a new range of colours too, but I think they're a solid little bike, plenty powerful enough for me anyway ;-) I'm still figuring out the vlogging thing, really. Cheers

+02bigkev you're welcome, Kev. Its pretty easy to use with a flip-up LCD screen, so its also good for hand-held selfie piece-to-camera work if you want to do that. The main reason I bought it was that wide-angle distorts perspective, like the views from Loggerheads I shot a week or so ago. With a portable 'pocket sized' good quality camera, I can get some in-fill shots without distortion - hopefully ;-) Cheers
