Hello hello NaturesFairy! I stumbled onto your channel through the side bar
while posting my own grackle video. I love this! You sound so much like I
do when I'm outdoors and observing nature... can't wait to see what else
you've got! Great video... thanks for sharing. If you have a moment, you
may like to see the grackle party held in our backyard just before
Christmas! From a fellow New Englander... WearyHag
Thank you so much for always taking the time to watch my videos and for the
sweet comments. I was thrilled to see so many Grackles. Nature is never
boring! :) Huggers♥
@Bflatblues55 Thank you so much for the lovely comment and for watching my
video,, I will go check out ur video!!! :) Oh wow ur from New England.. Im
in Mass..
We do both houses and gourds, like what are show in the video. We find that
gourds are our favorite but the Martins seem to use either a typical martin
house with many compartments or gourds about the same with maybe a slight
anecdotal preference for gourds. The gourds are easier to manage and clean
for us and it seems like every year we put up more gourds and we get more
Martins.
The gourd system closest to the camera, which kind is it? I'm thinking
about putting up some gourds, don't want to start too big, but a 4 or 6
gourd rack looks pretty good. May I ask the price of all the accessories to
it? Thank you. Monty
Hi there, those are actually gourds/houses that the Martins nest in.
Martins feed on the wing i.e. they fly through the air eating flying
insects. The gourds are about 14 ft in the air.
This is a male Bullock's Oriole. As you can see they have striking bright orange and yellow feathers that contrast nicely with the black and white feathers.
