Flashover Or Backdraft Occurs While Crews Are In A Working House Fire In New Chicago.
Get the best fire fighting DVD Video's @ //www.mabas21.com Crews were dispatched to a reported house fire at 402 Madison In New Chicago on 02-17-12, ...
Its definitely not a backdraft and it's certainly not a flashover. If I had to guess is was probably some sort of collapse inside the structure. Backdraft doesnt happen in well ventilated compartments.
Really??? You firstt leave one man on the roof and everyone walks away? If
he would have fallen through on the cameraman would have known. Also, you
have no open communication when you are inside so a guy has to blow the
trucks horn for you to get out? Might have well used the garden hose with
the amount of water that was used.
In every department, when doing something interior, truck horns means bail out. There could've been radio traffic saying to get out, but truck horns are louder than radios in a fire.
Obviously a huge problem with this department. Just a few things I noticed
that I would like to add:1. There WAS in fact a charged line going in the
front door very early in the video, less than one minute. 2. I simply do
not understand why ceilings were not pulled in the fire room immediately
and an interior attack initiated. We should have seen a water stream coming
out of ventilation holes cut in the roof very early into this video.3. Not
once did I see he lonely member working on the roof check support structure
conditions for his safety AND for his team members inside. As mentioned
many time: WHAT is he doing alone up there ????4. The so called "Chief" is
by far out of his league. Watch him closely......he is oblivious to what is
occurring and how to lead his team SAFELY through this operation.
Absolutely no size up, setting horrible examples with regard to his own ad
company safety. I did not see him direct anyone.......looks as though he is
at a ball game top of the fifth inning 2 outs and a man on first. This
"Chief" provided absolutely no support and/or leadership on the fire
grounds......he simply got in the way. 5. Finally, there seems to be a huge
volume of combustibles in the attic. I realize the high wind helped but the
volumes of black smoke combined with the degree of flame tells me there was
something up in the attic area that definitely fueled the fire. I did show
this to a safety officer in my department. He was just as amazed as we all
are at the actions taken in this video. He indicated that many clips would
be taken from this horror picture and used for training as well as a
reminder to the 1064 sworn members of our department. Our safety is job
one, we instantly become a liability if and when mistakes are made and in
our business unlike some others.........Mistakes made on the fire ground
are simply not reversible and in some instances life changing if not
deadly. Good Day !!!!
+Charley Roderick i didn't mean for it to come off so hostile as it sounded. I realize there are fire departments that are volunteer, such as the department I am in, that for the calls we go to, we handle fairly well. however, there is a difference between the skill level and knowledge of a volunteer fire fighter, and a full time fighter. a volunteer such as myself, learns the basics of fire fighting, and completes training as I gradually am in a fire department for longer. A full time fire fighter has to take all the training required, all the courses required, and practices on a regular basis, which volunteer fire departments may lack. I'm not against volunteer fire fighter. I'm on a volunteer department. however, if there had been more training this could have been preventable
+Jordan Haines It has nothing to do with it being a VFD. It looked like the guys here just weren't trained well enough to do the tasks at hand. Here we will fight fires like they do in New York. We're trained well enough to, and we're a VFD.
the problem is that it's a volunteer fire department. this crew isn't trained to the extent they should be. I'm a part of a volunteer fire department. we are NOT allowed inside of a building with fire unless it is a stove fire or a simple fire, which essentially means we do not perform interior fire fighting, only exterior. why this department was performing an interior attack I do not know, but this is also why fire departments are now training how they do now. it's events like these that make us learn what not to do.
Im no firefighter but A: Aren't they supposed to be putting the fire out
quickly? B: Shouldn't a fire fighters helmet be fastened before approaching
a fire? And C: If you have flames shooting out of a roof is it a good idea
to be going back on it to cut more holes? I don't know this particular
style of fire fighting but far from what my town does.
+Boeingfan727 Yes, departments do come up with some separate operating procedures but, there are certain standards and safety precautions. We don't all drive our cars the same way but, we all know that you are not suppose to run red lights. This department didn't seem to be doing any of them. It is like watching people that have never fought a fire trying to figure out what to do.It is a volunteer department, maybe they are badly funded and can't afford training but, mostly I think it is a badly neglected department. The man in the white hat is the Chief and should probably be fired. He is one of the biggest violators. He left a man all by himself on the roof. FFs are suppose to work as a team.No one spotted the man coming down the ladder and held it in place. Especially with snow and ice on the ground.People were going in and out of the building with SCBA (air) tanks or not wearing their masks and being on air.Took them way to long to get water flowing.Their is a platform truck on scene but, in this video it isn't seen being put to use to get to the fire higher up.There are more but, I forget them at the moment.
+zephyer 1999 exactly. I mean I know there are different approaches to fighting a fire per department, but I really do think this one needs to reevaluate its procedures or someone is going to get seriously injured. I respect and honor these men for what they do, and I would hate to see any of them get hurt for a bad decision or their department not training them the correct way.
+Boeingfan727 Shouldn't be leaving a man on the roof by himself either. Or walking into burning buildings without an airmask on.
2015 Ford F 150 King Ranch Crew Cab 4WD
It is easy to get excited about a truck like this! I do not work for Conway Ford...If you are in the market for a car like this Please call Traci Luke at Conway Ford ...
One more thing, I wish Ford would do away with the cheap Sony Sound system
mainly due to that awful useless sub woofer and go with BOSE! JMHO! Good
Video overall, thanks for your effort.

Quality and Reliability, I'm sorry for people love ford but ford it's not a
great Quality truck or vehicle. And the price of that its crazy. Besides
Ford lose value quick.
At current prices US$63,000 = AUS$84,865But we are being charged for a F150 in Australia AUS$189,000 = US$140,304Now would you pay over US$100k for an F150?
+Tomas Barahona Hi Mate, in Australia The Ford Ranger is around the $63,000 mark & if you really want an F150 you would be looking around $145,000...so $63,000 for a New F150 is a really great price...all the best
+William Blanchard I will try to get my hands on one! Thanks for the suggestion
