Personally sometimes I just feel that it hides any minor imperfections and makes the piece look a bit more cohesive. I don't always add a texture but sometimes it seems to help add to the authenticity.

Lo tengo en Lighroom y los efectos hasta el momento no se comparan con los
resultados obtenidos con Photomatix, es insuperable hasta el momento. Solo
me falta probar con photoshop...
