Can I ask if 4510J is delta K (Kf - Ki) or it's just simply Kf?

+Quynh Tran Assuming the block started from rest, that would be the final KE = total KE

Thank you for your videos, can you explain again why the force of friction is positive when you are calculating work? I thought the force of friction was negative because the direction of motion dictates a positive sign? Could you clarify please?

I understand now, the F required to overcome the friction is positive since it is going in the positive x direction, and because of the motion. If it were the reverse, would that mean the F required to overcome the friction would still be positive? because the direction of motion is positive?

+Sarah Groleau The friction force is a vector quantity. As such the magnitude of a vector cannot be negative.According to the way the problem is set up, the friction force is directed to the left, which by definition is a negative direction. The force required to overcome the friction is directed to the right. The work done to overcome friction is a positive quantity. What would it be if the problem was drawn in the opposite direction?

The friction in this problem was kinetic friction, not static friction, correct?

where'd he get µ of 0.2? isn't it 100÷5kg(9.8)=100/49=2.04?

+chuck jones the coefficient of friction was given in the problem to be 0.2
