@ rasta thug. Boxing will get u killed on the streets buddy. That is one of
the worst fighting forms in the world let alone the most incomplete.
Karateka will not need to punch the boxer . Karateka will just kick your
nuts all the way up to your throat before u can even attempt a jab. . Plus
a karateka will not go anywhere near a boxer . While hes swinging his heart
out ..karate do is all about keeping your distance .. so good luck boxer
+carlos garcia I've done boxing and it is a very good fighting form BUT you never know if someone has a weapon and while the boxing stance is straight up with your hands in front of your face that leaves you open to getting stabbed in the stomach very easily or as you said getting kicked especially in the balls would incapacitate you
Why Filipino Martial Arts Training is Unrealistic | Doug Marcaida
PLEASE READ THIS: Doug Marcaida says that his Kali training is unrealistic. That "none of this is real" and that there is a damn good reason for it. Filipino ...
It is realistic, regardless of the pace because everything your doing is
shortened, and more aggressive, in a real situation.
it's only unrealistic if the technique has flaw. and the only flaw you can
have in technique, is a failing one.
do you guys practice with the karambit? I'm way more comfortable with these
movements in fast paced aggressive combat than per say the dagger I have
"socp benchmade" which is more a striking approach to knife fighting than
the more extensive grappling with a karambit or serated blade.
although I will say the dagger "socp" is more practical in self defense, if
you practice traditional boxing and get real good movement and get really
disciplined in jabbing, you could put yourself in a better position to
escape an unsafe environment with doing minimal harm to an assailant.
I like your approach to the community. Seeing these arts as impractical but
I mean in all honesty. any art will work as much as you ready yourself and
train properly.
+sage smith this is just a training to develop muscle memory and reflexes and attributes..... even boxing has training system to develop attributes....
knives are freaking scary when it's coming at you, natural reaction would
be to retreat from the strike then strike when the knife is at full
extension. In this exercise he doesn't even disarm the guy instead stab in
the stomach in the back, why not remove the knife from your attacker?
You'll more likely subdue him without stabbing him multiple times.
It's definitely unrealisic to block a knife strike with your arm because
what if it goes through your fore arm there goes you're whole hand can't
use it anymore! These moves are more for action movies. In real life if
someone coming at you with a knife you will not play questions and answers
because if you got the answer wrong there's no starting over again. You
will most certainly perform a move that leaves you less vulnerable.
+ALIEN SCIENTIST obviously, in a real knife fight there is no question and answer because it ends in 3 seconds... one block, one counter attack....this is training to develop your reflexes and attributes... this is not actual fight..knife fighting is just like boxing.. if you can parry a punch, make evasive movements and make counter attack, then you can also do it in knife fights...
whys the title say unrealistic? Filipino escrima is the most efficient
blade system that you can use in modern day.. I read somewhere that spetnaz
uses it. o_O unrealistic? you lack training my friend. train it for a very
long time and you'd be able to do it.
+BIG DAWG Please don't misunderstood me I'm not mocking the technique or anything. I'm an FMA practitioner,to be specific, an Arnis/escrima player from the Philippines. all I'm saying was this video is to prove that don't compare the training and real life situation.because people tend to do that...in real life threatening situation you must consider the following:Fear, where you feel fear when your in danger and can affect your focus to fight someone, in short your fear for you own life.second the uploader's comment just going to repost it here. in training there is no fear of getting hurt. So it's the equivalent of playing laser tag to determine which operator is "better".3) Slashes vs Stabs and pokes. From a sharp knife, you won't even feel the cuts. Pokes and stabs induce immediate pain compliance. On white overalls, those pokes and stabs may not even register.I definitely see where you are going. People just crave some "realistic" manifestation of skill development...but without pain and fear...everything falls short of being realistic. The same goes for firearms training. Sure you can feel the pinch of sim rounds or paint balls --- but nothing replaces fear of the bullet.third is the pressure when you fight someone, you feel the pressure especially when you were ambush with mass people it can affect your focus again and can't do the technique you learn properly.but your movements may become faster if your adrenaline activates but your stance may be awkward depending on how long you practice the technique...the long you train the less you'll be akward best example of unrealistic are action movies where the blocks are perfect because it was staged..in real life you can't block all the punches and kicks because you can feel the pain even you block especially when your not used to street fight..best example for close to realistic was UFC BUT there are rules in there thats why we can't consider as fully realistic because in fight dirty tricks or tactics are sometimes effective to kill or take down a person thats why UFC is not fully realisticI hope you were enlighten and please don't misunderstood me,I'm not mocking the style or technique. I'm just saying that the feeling of danger is different from normal training but with the help of your training as I said before it can raise of chance of survival..If you still disagree about this then I'm going to respect your decision.Take care, mabuhay!
+Raymart Calinao I still think it's very realistic. O_o you can do all that crazy stuff if you train hard enough. It doesn't matter how your opponent looks when he/she attacks you. Aggressive or whatever. to me there's 2 training. 1 when you train your techniques all the tapping etc. and 1 when you practice for real life scenario. we have 2 arms and 2 legs. If you're fighting an alien with 4 arms or something.. Then the thing you're doing will be unrealistic. there's this rare footage of a shaolin monk fighting a taekwondo fighter. you can see that his forms are very solid. those crazy moves they practiced everyday.. He was able to do it. Yeah they're both trained in martial arts I know. What if the person that's going to attack you is not trained? he would come at you differently of course. cause he's not trained. But it doesn't matter. He's a human being. 2 arms and 2 legs. Yes, you won't do all that tapping and stuff. But you could do it. In life threatening situation. You'd just go straight for the kill. no patty cakes. tapping and redirecting etc.
+BIG DAWG the video prove that it was really unrealistic. marcaida already said that training and Real life threatening situation is different but it doesn't mean that the technique itself is ineffective. this video only implies to those people always say that "Oh this technique is very slow and can't used it in a real life threatening situation my own technique _______(any martial arts) is way better"these vids prove that the techniques you learn doesn't mean you are invincible but you can use what you learn to raise the chance of your survival in case there's a life threatening situation especially when the one who ambush you was an untrain personsorry if there would be a wrong grammar not really good in Eng hehe
The point Doug & Chris make in this video is that you & your partner must
push each other, get creative, and apply real-life applications to the
drills. SPARRING. It gives you and other students to chance to explore and
apply the skills & drills to "live" combat situations. That's where the
true learning takes place.
Any technique that takes more than two steps to complete won't work in real
life. Too many things can go wrong. Pick a guy up and slam him. That works.
Punch a guy in the face and immediately kick him in the grown. Again, that
works. Block a guy's jab, then trap his arm, then block and trap his other
arm, then backflip like a monkey and kick him in the head... won't work.
Too many variables.

+Leon B What about long range with kicks? Ever think of that? If you're a boxer and you don't know how to do a good kick well you're screwed. My self i do Muay Thai (Thai Boxing) i think it's is the best, it has long range (kicks) close range (boxing) and ground fighting.
+Nick Karatekid Lol, Kyokushin is overkill for street fights. Especially if you go through the endurance training, those black belt fighters look like they feel no pain when youpunch them.

+TheSkYgAmEr TheSkYgAmEr Always run in zig-zag fashion when fleeing from a shooter. Never run in a straight line as you will effectively be a stationary target.
+El Comandante Hannibal Shaka-Sakanouye no Tamuramaro-Zuluas I said earlier, someone who knows what they're doing isn't going to run in blind and dumb...if you don't know how to manage conflict without getting shot, then I feel sorry for you. There's a HUGE gap between being willing to use force offensively and running around punching every person until you find one with a gun...Oh, also, that concern has absolutely nothing to do with knowing how to fight. So, I win.
+El Comandante Hannibal Shaka-Sakanouye no Tamuramaro-Zulu That's the kind of crap I'm talking about. Fighting isn't always about proving something. Sometimes you might want to start a fight to take someone down a peg with no thought as to your own standing. And there's no rule against insecure martial arts masters, anyway. Why couldn't you have an expert that feels the need to prove themselves to other people? You're conflating combat expertise with a particular philosophy and ethical framework, but the two things are entirely unrelated. The idea that this kind of aversion to violence is somehow inseparable from combat expertise is groundless and honestly childish. It's a fantasy that has only spread so wide as a result of popular narrative archetypes in our culture.
+KidsKicksforChrist Stop it with the stupid Japanese pacifist honor crap. Martial arts were developed for war. What a person does with the knowledge is totally dependent on them and how they feel like using it. True, a person that knows what they're doing probably won't rush in blind and stupid, but there's no reason that they shouldn't start fights when they think it's worth it.
+theXpto51 he already explained it in the video. It just comes down to who is better. Do you have more repetitions under your belt or if you can think quicker.....the person to hit first will usually be the one to win
+theXpto51 90% of people who are knowledgeable in the Martial arts, won't start a fight, but they just finish it. If you respect the Arts, YOU walk away before a fight can accrue, if you are forced to defend yourself, Pray for forgiveness after you kill the bastards, you don't fight.

What happens when I dont "comply" as he attempts his moves?
Oh yeah, I break his fucking jaw and snap his arm off..then choke him to
sleep. GTFO with this bullshit in 2015!
I have seen the Martial arts Museum earlier this week. and to be honest you
the owner of the museum and his employees treated me disrespectfully and
they were rude. I felt it was a waste of money and time.
And It's not a good idea to throw away money on a low class museum like the
Martial art Museum. Especially these days when we have to pay too much
money to pay off the bills and the rent.
It's not good to waste money on something like the Martial arts Museum
(DON,T YOU THINK?)
There's lots of museums in the area that you could visit. For example Asian
arts Museum in Pasadena. There is tons of other museums in Los Angeles and
nearby. The Asian Art Museum is just one example.
+bong network Most humble apologies for how you were treated. Please return for a full refund. I will hold the money in my hands and if you can take it from me, it is yours. Disclosure: To enter the museum to get your refund, please pay the entrance fee when you enter.
From Wikipedia: *In 2002, he [Yehoshua Sofer] founded the Abir Warrior Arts
Association of Israel, teaching **his own style** of "Abir-Qesheth Hebrew
Warrior Arts" (אבי״ר-קשת אומנות לחימה עברית) in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, *
*claiming** an unbroken tradition dating to Israelite antiquity[1]*
The whole back-story to this style is fiction.
Wich themselves were developed from ? Teh whole point of were did it all come from is pretty much not really very relevent allthough historicly interresting. People have been bashing eachothers heads in since proberbly before wel left the trees.... Geven the facr rhart we have a brain that ¨want¨ to organise stuff clasify plan ahead etc etc etc etc it is only natural that in some way or form we started to ¨organise¨ ik et voila the MA´s were born. Offcourse ypu see many things in more then ONE style th ehuman body (and mind) is limited in what it can do and what can be done against is to damge or destroy it... There fore sooner or later even without any prior contact 2 groups of folkes developing a way to defebd abd atack abother human being ( or realle aby other creature or object) with there own body and mind will developt similair condepts and tecnique´s Most proberbly there fore it all started in Africa or mabe not depeding on your definition in a way many animals before os also has way´s to defend and attack...
it's so sickening...instead of enjoying and learning something different
from a different culture... and just becus something doesn't add up to what
ur shallow minds haven't seen nor heard of ...the jaws immediately start
jack'n. where does it say in ANY rule book that a specific art has to be
done a certain way to be credible...or better yet...or matter cus U say
so....i'm sure it's somewhere in "UR"rule book i'm sure ...but ur missing
something...NONE of ur negative comments and weak rule books, account for
anything....just a bunch of weak minded troll'n haters.
I wouldn't agree more... as soon as new come up, the know-it-alls want to jump on the troll&haters wagon like drowning rats trying to get out of floodwater flooded sewer during a flood.
