University of Alaska Fairbanks master's student Tricia Kent has created a way to concentrate birch sap that also will boost K-12 science education in Fairbanks.
Beautiful but way to short. Please-Please provide more information.
I have thought for a few years now that a home RO unit could be used for
small home production of Maple (birch) syrup.
I am in Minnesota and boil off no more than 150 gal of sap each year.
How well does your unit work?
From what I see you set your unit up as follows.
The pump forces the sap through an inline filter to remove micro dirt sand
bark etc.
sap then goes through RO unit 1 enters right side.
Pure water exits left side and stage one concentrate exits another port on
the right.
Stage one concentrate enters RO unit 2 on the right, again water left and
stage 2 concentrate right port 2. This repeats through RO 3.
Conceptually the sugar content rises after passing through each of the 3 RO
units.
Is this what happened?
What is your ratio?
According to another video 40:1 sap ran through a professional RO improves
to 10:1. What kind of improvement did you get?
What would happen if I only used my single stage house hold unit.
(Other than owing my wife dinner and flowers for taking her RO to the
Garage.LOL)
I love this! I hope it works as well as I think it should!
I noticed UAF. Did you write a report. could I get a copy?

Please reply.

Would love to get more info on your results, set-up and membrane gpd size.
I am seeing the setup much like junkmail28560 is. Great option for the
small producer.
I also noted 4 pressure gauges. One at each stage.
What was the operating pressure of each?
