@coquicr Hi, if you have access to both, I would say try Solidworks, in my personal opinion Inventor is better for designs like gearboxes, but for cars, planes, bikes, etc I would choose Solidworks exclusively, frame generator in Solidworks suit me better than in Inventor, there is one thing which I don't like in Solidorks, it's small parts library, I had to create my own steel profiles. In Solidworks you won't create a frame member over a spline, it's not a big deal.

@olliewest I use a "conventional" approach, weldments> structural member, etc, (of course it's necessary to create own library), because you can't create a curved member over a spline, I use arcs usually. For more "complicated" shapes a couple of them, of course you have to add tangent relation between them, hope it helps.

Hi I have an engineering background and I am planning on building a bike on my free time much like you did with the Lotus 7. I see from your videos you have experience on Solidworks and Inventor. Which one would you recommend for chassis frame design and simulation: Inventor, Solidworks, any other? Thank you a lot!

Hello, I'm thinking about making a DIY project out of the Atom and have been trying to do all the research that comes before doing any major project. I was wondering if you would be willing to share the SolidWorks model of the car or if it is already online, where it would be.

My name is Brian Williams and I am with the Formula SAE program at Bradley University. We would like to discuss some frame designs with you. I sent you a friend request because we need to be friends before I can send an actual message. We would like to contact you. thanks!

I have made a rear suspension setup similar to yours, but I cannot get the mates right at the hinge or things to connect and move properly. Do you have your solidworks files/ assemblies uploaded anywhere so I can see the process you used to put everything together?

I’ve been trying to design stuff in solid works but I find it very difficult. I guess you have to have an artistic mind. Any chance you could change that to a pull-rod and mount the shocks closer to the ground plain? That would lower the center of gravity

I have Dell 9400 (I'm going to upgrade it to M90 or M6300) 2GB ram (667MHZ) Radeon X1400 (256MB). It took about 8h to render it in resolution 1100x750, 18 frames per second,

Sorry for that but I have very limited time, to many people were asking me about differnt things, I had no time for all replies so I have to block it.

im actually building an ariel atom out of knex, and i would have NEVER gotten the rear suspension right without this video. thanks for the upload!

Thank you... thank you very much. I was searching all morning, for atom suspension explanation :) You have "like" from me.

It doesn't look like the assembly is fully constrained. Look at the nut/bolt that connects the damper to the car frame.

Thanks, actually the graphics were really nice until I uploaded it on youtube. I have to try another codec next time.

"oh, and your wheel's centerpoint seems to be not in the real centerpoint, if you know what I mean." Wow congratulations finally after 16574 viewers someone noticed that I'm impressed. But let me explain myself that was my first project in Invntor ever I noticed that when i finished animation but was to late for changes so I left it. I was drawing that wheel in isometric view so that's why I chossed wrong centerpoint. "how did you do this in Inventor though?" I used Inventor studio great tool.

Great job, I uhhh, currently have Autodesk Inventor Professional 2009, and its great. I thought it was so much much better than the 2006 version, which is what my school has, so yea. Its difficult to learn at first, but once you do, its a great program!

hmm.. i am familiar with inventor. i have made excavators with it and such... but idk how to make car bodies with it. and absolutly no clue as to how u made the tread on the tire.. so if anyone konws fill me in. :]

That is awesome! how did you do this in Inventor though? oh, and your wheel's centerpoint seems to be not in the real centerpoint, if you know what I mean. other than that, great model, and 'animation'!

Hi AR Sarjun :) We used Adams Car 2013.2. Before you start ADAMS/Car Template Builder, make sure that your private configuration file, .acar.cfg, shows that you can work in expert-user mode. Your private configuration file is located in your home directory. To check the user mode: 1) In a text editor, such as jot or notepad, open .acar.cfg. 2) Verify that the following line appears as shown: ENVIRONMENT MDI_ACAR_USERMODE expert (you just have to replace default standard with expert and save!) This line sets the user mode for the ADAMS/Car session. To start ADAMS/Car Template Builder: 1) Start ADAMS/Car Standard Interface. 2) From the Tools menu, select ADAMS/Car Template Builder.

Hi Idmond - thank you very much for your message! This is indeed a good idea and, in fact, you are second one to ask specifically for examples from this problem domain. Currently, I am quite busy but I will keep in my mind and do my best to make a short video about application areas requiring fast and ultra-fast response times. (You might want to google for "black magic and gremlins", by the way. :-) ) All the best - Bernd. :-)

Bernd, could you post a video about the application of analog computation techniques to the implementation/simulation of analog controllers? that would be really fun! I just want to know the implementation issues and limitations of analog controllers in applications where the plant has very fast response such as UAVs, Aircrafts, Rockets, etc.. Thanks!
