hi, how would it work if i wanted to record my guitar on my mac can i use
it via this midi interface?
im not very good at these things just want to make sure..
you know what i mean? thank you
This ALESIS interface has one 5-pin DIN MIDI and one 1/4" TRS Foot Pedal/Footswitch. A guitar cannot be connected. You would need an interface with guitar/instrument inputs: The M-Track from M-Audio is a two-channel portable USB audio and MIDI interface that is designed to work with virtually any DAW or music production software. Intended to offer a versatile set of options for beginner and veteran musicians alike, the M-Track is equipped with balanced XLR microphone inputs and balanced 1/4" line inputs on each channel. Each mic input has switchable 48V phantom power for using your favorite condenser mic, and the balanced line inputs can be used to connect gear such as keyboard workstations or drum machines. Each line input also has a guitar switch, that when engaged, changes it from normal input impedance to Hi-Z. This allows you to connect your guitar directly into the interface for recording and processing. In addition to versatile analog I/O, the M-Track is a fully functional MIDI interface as well. Integrate your MIDI keyboard, rack module, external sequencer or other gear into your studio setup using the provided MIDI In and MIDI Out ports. iRig MIDI works with any MIDI controller that has standard 5-pin MIDI DIN connections and iPad apps must be Core MIDI compliant of course (to accept MIDI controller data). If you are having issues, please contact tech support.

iRig 2 is an audio interface that plugs into the headphone jack so if your app accepts audio that way it will work. More information available at //www.irig2.com
+ikmultimedia actually, you did answer my question & here's my responce:damn, cause the problem for me is that i'm looking for a midi controller (with 8-9 faders, 8 knobs and 4-16 drum pads) for a very strict price (under 200$) and i'm looking for the controller with midi out, but unfortunately, i'm having no luck finding "the perfect midi controller" for irig, do you know any controllers that you would recommend that have faders, knobs and drum pads for an affordable price with midi out? <:(
I'm sorry I don't understand your question - iRig doesn't connect to iOS devices via USB only 30-pin or Lightning. iRig MIDI does have MIDI IN, OUT, and THRU though for control of external devices and vice-versa.
I have a question, i'm planning to replace my camera connection kit for
irig or a midi mobilizer 2 and i just have one question, if i buy a midi
controller with only a midi out, is it possible to connect only midi out
from my ipod to the keyboard?
iRig MIDI supports MIDI IN, OUT, and THRU //www.ikmultimedia.com/irigmidi (and it is on sale now)

Hi Alex. Not having tried it (and unable to do so) I can't advise. I presume you mean taking an audio output from the PA or mixing desk into the iRig Pro via XLR to make a recording?
I have a very stupid question, I think I already know the answer but I'm
still not entirely Convinced.
Does it also work with programs like GarageBand for IOS and Ableton Live?
Thanks in advance for the answer to my (maybe very stupid) question.
Works with garageband on mac and iOS, not sure about ableton live

Review Line 6 MIDI Mobilizer with iPad
MIDI interface for your iPad - yes it DOES work with that as well as the iPhone and iPod Touch. Comes with MIDI Memo a basic recording app. More reviews ...
@HaniiPuppy I dont think you got my point this device is a midi device no
audio and midi is an old standard that is very slow and even if the
connector were lead it wouldnt make much difference at all because all the
audio from this device comes from the iphones head phone jack or what ever
you have the midi interface controlling Gold connectors are more of a
gimmick than anything else just test your self buy a cheap cable and test
it against a gold one and see if you can her the difference.
99 dollar is a lot of money. And if I would buy this, I would mainly use it
to record vocals (I also have plans to sometimes use a vocoder and/or vocal
processor...I would attach a microphone to vocoder and/or vocal processor
and attach the whole thing to an ipod touch or ipad). There is no example
of a recording of vocals in this video-review. That's why I recommend
adding an example of a recording of vocals in a similar next video-review,
if you want to get more people interested.
What I want is being able to midi sync some apps like BassLine(works over
wifi but too much hassle),TechoBox or FunkBox etc with ease or able to play
synths apps like NLogSynth with an external keyboard. To me, this thing
seems bloody useless right now but in near future(I hope)could become an
essential little attachment for everyone who likes making music on iPhone
or iPad.It all depends on the developers of those fantastic music making
apps.
@HaniiPuppy thats what im trying to say this is not an audio device thats
why it doesnt matter if its gold or not and putting gold connectors on a
midi device is dumb and besides even if it was audio neither you or anybody
else can hear the difference the only reason they used gold is to try to
make people think its better when i have seen test after test that proved
that its not better to the human ear there is not discernable difference.
@Denvermorgan2000 Gold connectors don't help midi, but not for the reason
you're thinking of; gold connectors help analog and digital audio signals
in that they allow for a higher rate of transmission and less corruption -
but midi works by sending instructions rather than audio, and the midi
standard defines how much data can go through and at what quality it needs
to be read by.
@Denvermorgan2000 There is no audio. It's midi, and the data throughput is
governed by a predefined standard. If it were audio, gold connectors would
provide a better quality audio stream that's free of any form of
corruption. This, however, has nothing to do with the data throughput, it
has to do with the better conductivity of gold, which will provide more
stable connections.
From what I understand, recent changes to the Apple App spec now allows App
developers to make their Apps work with a hardware device like this (same
goes for the Akai Synthstation 25). It'd be great if, at some point, you
could plug an external MIDI keyboard into something like this in order to
control a VI App. C'mon App developers!
Can you use this as an "in" for other audio sources? Like a regular TRS
line level source? I use V-Drums, and it is interesting for MIDI recording
alone, but if it were *also* capable as an "in" for TRS I'd get it. Most of
the adapters for iPhone "in's" are in mono TS for guitar or bass. Thanks.
the 'thru' and 'live' problem is solved with the MidiSolution Quad Merge (I
tried the dual merge but it didn't work) but the Quad worked fine. Be sure
to put the keyboard into port 1 so you don't drain iphone power thanks for
this vid jp - very nice.
I have a question, i'm planning to replace my camera connection kit for a
midi mobilizer 2 and i just have one question, if i buy a midi controller
with only a midi out, is it possible to connect only one midi wire from my
ipod to the keyboard?
I own this and I agree with everything he said. I bought it to store my
novation nova midi/patch data. Devs get on your job and make some cool
music apps for this thing. A midi Sequencer like JJSequencer would be sick
n the iPad.
Might get me a MIDI Mobilizer 2 for my ipad. I've been unimpressed with the
IO Dock. I keep hearing that the MIDI performance with it is poor & I run
quite a few Apps that are portrait.
Such a cool piece of gear! But argh, the Jupiter 6! I sold mine years ago
for $300 including the flight case before I knew its true value. Thumbs up
to help me kick myself in the arse.
why not just use stereo head phone jack chord cost about 5 to 10 bucks plug
into keyboard then plug other end into ipad and record on garage bang witch
almost everyone has
This looks like total crap. That software is unusable for anything. I like
the idea of getting actual midi outs/ins, but I'm doubting anything is
gonna work right.
@meltdownband no - it only works with this one app - totally useless - $600
midi data recorder you can do more with a $50 usb - interface and a mac or
pc -
ok... can this be used on line 6 pod 2.0 btw i havnt had this question
answerd anywhere and i need it answered quickly!!
