The doctor said to use hydrocortisone 1% for my baby's dry skin. Are there other natural options?
You have a 2 month old that has had very dry skin, and you've noticed little red dots. And you've talked with the doctor, and they recommended hydrocortisone ...
Hydrocortisone (HC) Cream Dosing w/syringe
This is a quick look at how to dose HC cream with a syringe for people with Adrenal Insufficiency. Do not use unless you know what you are doing. The cream is ...
@chuck2271 You rub it into your skin in a fatty area such as the thighs,
buttocks or abdomen. For some, hydrocortisone pills upset their stomach, so
this is a way around that. Also, some who need HC are unable to get a
prescription for it, so this is a way around that as well. To find out
whether or not you need it and how much/when to use, I recommend you join

DermTV - Is Cortisone Friend or Foe [DermTV Epi #95]
Cortisone is one of the miracle drugs of the 20th century. One of its uses is towards the effective healing of skin rashes and issues. However, in addition to be a ...
How can I get away from cortisone? I use it nearly every day and I want to
get rid of it. Once I don't use it, my skin get's worse than ever! It is
flaky, gets red patches and burns like fire. Do I have to stand it or do
you have any advise to make this time it more comfortable?
Fun to use? Don't know about that. Not feeling so good. I just used this
for the first time, I hope it does something. I also hope it doesn't do
what happened the last time I I had to use oral corticosteroids and
suppress my immune system so much that I get shingles. Wish me luck.
Thank's for posting this. From the instructions it seemed like it should
fill up with one or two pumps and I thought I might have a defective unit.
That actually sounds about right - I take it twice a day and a bottle lasts
me a week, so if you're using it four times and getting 4.5 days out of it
I'd say you're doing pretty well. I'm actually still using it to this day -
I've weaned off of it a few times but I find it's a really effective part
of my treatment regimen. Best of luck with it, as far as butt-related
medications go it's my favorite! :)
Scott, I've been using it for at least two years and have had none of the
side-effects associated with oral steroids. Certainly not the most pleasant
way to get your meds, but ten times more comfortable than a standard enema
for sure! Best of luck in your healing process, I'm currently trying an
elimination diet to see if I have specific food triggers that might play a
role in my IBD flares.
I was prescribed cortifoam 4x daily and it worked great, but it ran out
after 4.5 days. I'm afraid I didn't clean the cap enough and there may have
been a blockage. Do you remember how much use you got from one bottle of
cortifoam?
thank you very much for your video it was very helpful and you elimanate
all the confusion on how to use it. It eases her concerns and she also says
that you have a very nice voice :)
Dude, I have UC and completely know what you are going through. But dang,
clean up that tub. Use bleach to get rid of the mold before you have other
sicknesses to worry about.
Just to be clear...this is about a known immediate exposure and immediate
treatment to the best of my knowledge. The "oil" mentioned, is the oil from
the plant, not any oily appearances that normally occur days later. The
urushiol from the plant is what causes it. Usually within 15 minutes of
contact, the urushiol binds to skin proteins. If it is washed off with soap
and water before that time, a reaction may be prevented. Unfortunately most
people don't know they got it until days later. By then it cannot be
spread. Best cure...Cave Water. Underground lime and natural minerals found
in cave water can clear ivy and sumac in days. 2nd best...Calamine. But i
leave it open to dry a bit ...so it almost becomes a paste. Just seems
easier to deal with, and less messy especially for sleeping.
Calamine lotion will help it clear up faster, and ive heard of people using
hand sanitizer or anything that dries out the skin although im not sure. A
lot of people keep it wrapped to reduce spreading but you need to keep it
unwrapped so it can dry out faster. Best way to reduce itching for me is to
coat it with icy hot, yes it sounds weird but it works.
I do not belive that running cold water will wash away ivy oil from the
skin. If it is oil based you should use some type of solvent to break it
down. like Dawn soap or palmolive. do this several times and you will not
spread the oil. the trick is to get it off quick.
My problem has been that I had not known that I had been exposed until the
itching began. I have heard a product called tecnu works very well if you
use it right away. I have no idea if it works better than running water
however.
best remedy: mix flour and water into a thick paste, add a LOT of salt to
it and then aply it to the affected area, let it dry and keep it on all
day. it will dry out the rash and will be gone in 2-3 days.
Actually, cold water neutralizes the oil. It may spread a bit, but it
neutralizes what the oil may do. Soap spreads the oil faster. I had to
study poison oak, ivy, and sumac in order to be a park ranger
i need help my is bad and it is on my eye and face ,arms and i only have 1
medicine do i go by a noter 2 the 2 u have and how log well i have it if i
do what did in this vid
legit the best cure for it not to itch is to put your blow dryer on high
and hot, and put it on the rash intill it burns and it will not itch for
like 5 hours
