seems like code 34...any help?
+samuel hakim+James Breeden If the short and potentiometer (direct ECU method) both do not work for pulling codes, the ECU could be damaged, or have bad grounds. 96 ECUs are somewhat of an exception as they're a mix between consult and OBDII. for 96, you should try an OBDII reader, available from amazon or ebay for ~$20, or borrow from an auto parts store.
Bro I tried this but my check engine bulb won't light up... I tested the
bulb and it was good... Do you have an idea why???
Also I tried it with the ecu but the LED won't turn on
+Eli CarrilloNot always correct, Sometimes the car will still run, sometimes not. I've seen cars run on 3 cyl with fried ECUs and i've seen cars not start at all.
If the LED is not lighting up, it's a possibility that the ECU has a bad ground, or the ECU is fried. (It's actually kind of common, i've seen this happen multiple times)I suggest delidding the ECU and inspecting the PCB for burn marks.
Brian, if it's 90-95, try via the potentometer on the side of the ECU. If it's 96, Try via a OBDII reader (I've had some 96 Z's not respond to certain OBDII readers)

What is the P0455? Vent solenoid I think. If so, the methodology would
depend on the initial voltage readings on the solenoid. Follow Section 3 in
my eBook if you have it.

I ran across a purge valve on a 96 tahoe. This vale was tested with a 9
volt battery and blowing through it. It worked fine but would not open when
you cycle it very fast.
