Interesting on my 95 Impreza 2.2 I have an oil leak and when I look at my
intake manifold its covered in oil and it drips down to the exhaust and
smokes at times. Wonder if my oil pressure sending unit is causing it to
leak oil
I'm not sure if the oil getting on your intake manifold and exhaust would be from the sending unit but it's so simple to check that you might as well check it. The leak you describe sounds more like valve cover gasket or head gasket leak to me. Maybe try cleaning the area well with some carb cleaner type stuff and seeing where 'new' oil comes from. good luck with it!
Help! My 2007 Subaru Impreza has had this annoying knocking noise for about a year. Recently it broke down on me and i couldn't get it started back up.
@beqa16v The EJ engines suck if they are not looked after with quality
fully synthetic oil, if the owner doesn't look after their engine by having
it serviced regularly then problems like this are bound to occur. I get my
MY00 WRX serviced every 10,000km and I change the engine oil half way
between each service, so every 5,000km the engine oil is getting changed.
My WRX has done 170,000km and has no issues whatsoever and has a tuned ECU
along with 3" TBE and an upgraded fuel pump.
That is a very expensive noise. Sounds like you've spun a shell very common
with EJ25 and EJ20 engines Had it on my P1 total engine rebuild cost £5,000
for 450BHP. If you stay standard you may get it down to about £2,500 Not
sure where your from but API Subaru in Warrickshire do a bloody good engine
Good luck.
So its kind of funny to say that I worked for LQK / yamato PW for about a
year and we remanufactured Subaru engines for that specific problem.. its
called death defying piston slap from a lopsided cylinder.. that engine is
well known for it.. I could definitely be wrong but it definitely sounds
like so.
Alright mate we had the same noise with my Subaru I found behind the
flywheel is a oil glary but the 6 screws one fell out picking it up making
a really bad noise but on idle (tick over) sounds perfect but 1400rpm is
when it really rattles hope it helped
these boxer engines absolutely suck! so overly complicated for 4 cylinders
and without any real advantages. Plus the turbocharged ones can take so few
miles that it is disgusting
