Product Review: External Battery Chargers
Sonia Gil reviews external battery chargers to keep you powered up during your travels. Lipstick Sized Battery Chargers: Anker Astro Mini: //goo.gl/t8q1OY ...
+Laurel Jacketti Funk I've been trying to find a charger for my MacBookPro. Unfortunately they require too much power at this point in time for a battery pack. The only solution I've found is an inverter to convert DC power to AC power. This would be useful in the car or on a plane with DC outlets.
External battery packs aren't often mentioned in travel packing tips but I
absolutely love mine. Not one of the ones you checked out (it's larger) but
has been serving me well here in Europe so far!
I meant to say that your voice doesn't come out whining. :)I'm flying out Europe today, got plenty of your recommended goodies :){watched all your VDOs}
My favorite is a pocket cell from Innergie (lipstick size as well) and it
weighs only 72g or 2.5 ounces! Once it is fully charged, it can charge at
least 2 iPhones. Another advantage is it comes with a cable with multiple
adaptable USB ports like USB, microUSB etc. I discovered this pocket cell
when I was doing some shopping in a flight. It is quite popular in Europe.
You forgot to mention something important. YOU NEED 2 AMPS OUTPUT POWER to
charge TABLETS and the latest smartphones (Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy S5). Some
tablets won't even charge with a typical 1 amp charger, other would charge
but would take double/triple the amount of time and could DAMAGE the
internal batteries if charged on a low amperage current multiple times.
When shopping for a external battery pack, 2 AMPS should be primary
feature, don't buy anything that has less than 2 AMPS of OUTPUT power, even
if you don't need it right now, I bet that your new smartphone is going to
come with a 2 AMP charger in the next one-two years, and that would make
your battery pack useless, protect the planet from landfill junk by using
your head.
Some battery packs have 0.5 AMPS, those are SCAMS, DON'T BUY THOSE. Unless
you want to power your bluetooth and only that.
Use battery packs only in case of emergency, once you arrive at the
destination or at home charge using the charger that came with your phone,
the manufacturer "tuned" that charger for maximum performance, don't use
generic or other manufacturer's micrusb charger unless you are in a
emergency situation, the output power can be other than the one advertised
on the charger.
have you tried the Mophie chargers? i really love mine, i have the second
largest model (there are different sizes) and it can charge my iphone to a
full charge twice, down fall you have to carry the cords but its really
slim and light weight! i love my mophie charger!
Hi Kat!! Nooo haven't tried it! But thanks for the tip, I'll definitely check it out.

I wonder if Dollarama has them now for 5s and 6. I bought a bunch when I
had the 4s and they worked like a dream and they were only $2.50! Only
thing is that the iPad doesn't do well with it.
Came across this review video I had done a while back but figured I would put anyways. I switched from a very cheap tripod to this cheaper but well made Dynex ...
