Bumpies is an interesting product, and definitely not for everyone! But for those minimalists out there that despise cases, maybe you should check out bumpies!
I will not recommend dropping the iPhone in them, there is videos on
youtube where they drop it and it is getting damaged. When it come to
protection I will search youtube for drop tests before buying. Not just the
company telling you can drop it from a specific hight
I completely agree! They have protected my phone a few times and thats all I can ask. If they had failed I would be reporting differently. They are a random product I tried for a few weeks in my review then got rid of. I have no skin in this game.
+Andrew OHara As nice as that is, most people don't tend to break their phones by putting them into drop-testing robots. Any company can design a test that makes their product look good; it's repeated, real-word, uncontrolled testing that provides more useful information on a case's efficacy.
I'm not just taking the word of the company. I tried these out for a few weeks before doing my review. I had a few minor drops and they saved me. I think you have to have a reasonable expectation of what you are getting and what they will withstand. All cases have the chance to damage the phone in certain situations. That said, if you do look for drop tests, there is one on MobileReviewsEh where the phone gets damaged, but it is about as unscientific as you can get. He haphazardly just lets the phone fall from his hand. Bumpies performed a much more scientific test where it is in a machine that drops it to keep the drop the exact same each time. Theirs went well. Another video from Skin Ksa does a drop test where the phone survived. So I think it can go either way. The phone is barely covered so it should be a step up from nothing but you can't compare it to an otter box and expect the same level of protection
Hmm. I hadn't thought about that. The only slight problem is I do a lot of development work so Im usually running a beta or the most current release which is rarely jailbroken. But Maybe I could do it on my iPad? What about just app reviews in general?
Thanks for being the first person the review this interesting case. I've
been on the fence about it since first hearing about this and the Bezl
cases which are similar just bigger.
I've always wanted to go caseless on my iPhones and this may be a good
option. Apparently even if it doesn't hit the corners it's fairly protected
because of the elevation of the bumpies. Have you by chance noticed that?
Yes, Bumpies provides drop protection no matter how your phone lands on a flat surface. The Bumpies uses the military standard for drop which calls for an object to drop from a height of 4 ft on each of its six faces, 12 edges, and eight corners onto two inches of plywood over concrete on a flat surface. All Bumpies Protectors pass the test. Check out some videos and see the testing process - //www.bumpies.co/videos/.
