You're asking for trouble if you rely on only the narrow side of the base
plate for support. There's a good likelihood that the saw will tilt as it
comes towards the end of the cut and the waste piece starts to give. And if
it tilts the blade could catch and cause the machine to kick back.
+realemonful Well good for you, but there are plenty of experienced tradesmen posting videos on here showing dangerous working practices with circular saws, like cutting unsupported handheld timbers towards their legs or cutting curves. Maybe familiarity has bred complacency, or they would know how to cope if a kickback did occur. This video however is aimed at amateurs, who are less familiar with using circular saws, and who are more likely to be caught out and lose control. If you care about schooling people and their safety, do you REALLY think it wise to tell them it's okay to balance a running circular saw on its narrow edge?
I have more then 10 types of saws that I use at least 50% of my working day... at least 4 hours per day for over 20 years and I'm a licensed carpenter and contractor with in school training and have also trained tons of young workers so go get your next welfare check before someone knocks you out
+realemonful Ah, now we see your real character, a foul mouthed close minded individual, who justifies their blinkered views by saying I've done it like this for 20+ years so I must be right. No wonder the construction industry has some of the worst safety records.
Yes dumb fucking retards like you who know less then fuck all and still try to argue... Get the fuck out of here. Hell go watch a construction crew or do something useful instead of arguing about something you know fuck all about you fat lazy dumb fucking goof
+realemonful If commonsense isn't your thing, then try reading the safety notes that come with your circular saw - particularly the bit about securing the workpiece to a stable platform (and by implication the saw base) to minimise blade binding.
OK ill take your word for it. I guess my 20 + years of woodworking and construction using saws under every imaginative circumstances have failed me. I wish I would have spoken to you before so I could thank you for never having injured myself with a saw instead I just used common sense and knowledge lol
+realemonful Or maybe you think you know how to use it, but actually don't understand the reality of kickback as the saw tilts and the blade "pinches" in the workpiece (even on this demo you can see some tilting in at 3:00 due to lack of a stable base to cut on). With this, the lack of a riving knife, no gloves or sleeves, using a circular saw like this is an accident waiting to happen.
Nice saw,but I think I'll wait for the next upgrade model. Maybe with so e
few improvements. By the way, I would like to see a review of ryobi 9 inch
bench top bandsaw if you haven't done one already. I took a look at it at
home depot. I was kinda disappointed with the quality.
