I find the 8XT to be far faster, smoother, and more responsive compared to any Android phone in the same midrange market. Windows Phone 8 is just far less intensive and much better optimized.

Hmmm. May be your opinion. But, from my own personal experience, Windows Phone is far better than Android at running on lower end hardware. I don't find myself lacking anything without Google. I can still check my Gmail on the go, check facebook, and browse the web. All the things I did on Android before, but it is so much smoother on my Windows Phone.I agree that the default mail client leaves a bit to be desired. But, that's not a focal point for me.

"Optimized".....Optimized with what? Windows phones work horribly and atrociously with Google Services, which have become almost essential to any mobile device user these days. Also, Windows Phones' functions seem to be very useless, and just seem to be trying to copy Android and iOS with Siri and Google Now, with the "supreme" Windows Search. For your mid-range market, there's several phones nowadays on android that provide last generation specs for the same price range. For example, the Sony Xperia Z1 is a viable contender, and the HTC One M7 from last year is also a very viable contender. You don't get the same feel of refinement when you use a Windows OS Mobile device. It feels like Microsoft just ported Windows 8 to take up less space and made a poopy x32 version of it for a phone. Thumbs down Microsoft there. In other words, I'm saying that Windows OS for mobile devices is more of a third wheel when it comes to the battle between Android and iOS. Windows Mobile OS is poorly paired and/or optimized for some basic apps, like even YouTube Developer tools, and even GMail! It is just atrociously horrible. I can check a comment on my Windows Phone, and still have that message marked as unread on my computer its just plainly inconvenient. Windows is just the unrefined solution Microsoft threw out in a heartbeat to compete.

Hi! Great review! Thank you! I have a question though, if my needs are not as vast as htc one would provide, and since im in college i dont have much money, i would like to know more about htc 8xt, because i have seen lumia 920 and i must say that it felt and looked great! I do like android and had galaxy s 1, but it was really a disaster!! I spent more time getting really mad! Nothing seemed to wirk right and the lags... Lags were unbearable!!! I really dont want to make the same mistake

Newer samsung devices like the note 3 are not lagy and if they are it is not nearly as noticeable. Also try the Moto X or the LG G2 they don't lag at all.

htc 8xt could had made the battery like 3000 mAH if htc wanted to, because the battery is like 3x the size then my battery

and the reason i know that is because of a htc 8xt taking about video, the battery is the same size as the screen
