Last year when i first installed the app i noticed it was a big battery drain. Does this issue still persist? I'm prepared to give it a second chance.

I did massive performance improvements since last year. But it's a compass that uses a lot of sensors at once and fuses them. So of course it will use more battery than other apps that don't need sensor data. But it doesn't run in the background. Therefore it only uses the battery when the compass is open.
