Hey guys, Leo here. And today, I'm going to show you how to tether your Androids Data connection for free! You won't need to pay the tethering free associated ...
I think this app has a problem specifically with Samsung Epic 4G for some
reason. I remember I used it on HTC Evo 4G and it worked like a charm, but
it doesn't work with my Epic 4G. They even blogged it on a developer's
site. Do you know if there are any other good tethering apps that might
work on Epic 4G? . I'm on rooted (thanks to you!) Epic 4G, gingerbread
2.3.6. Thank you.
@CheeseSwaqq Sorry for the delay. It was a weird error that was occurring
that was happening with yours and you can try one of two options: 1)
Uninstall the APK and reinstall it with the same method in the video 2) OR
Try using these two other programs (they can be downloaded straight from
the market) Barnacle or OpenGarden. Please let me know if that works.
Thanks!
Excuse me, but do you know how I could tether a Kyocera Hydro? I'd like to
be buy one soon, and I need to have a boost phone that I can tether to my
computer to act as a modem, and I'm not sure this would work for it. I'm on
a budget, so I can't afford a really fancy phone, and I'd like to stick
with boost. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
@CheeseSwaqq I would be happy to help. There is just a few questions that I
need to ask so I can help: 1) What phone are you using? 2) Are you using
Wireless Tether and then connecting your laptop (or other device) to your
phone, or are you using a program that came with the phone? Thanks!
Yes you do need to root your phone for THIS method to work. If you try it
without rooting I think it will just tell you to pay $15 or not work at
all. If you don't want to root download FoxFi from the Play Store, its free
and doesn't require rooting for wifi tether.
Hmm that is interesting but try using FoxFi or Barnacle. Those are great
programs, I use Barnacle on my Epic 4G Touch and it works like a charm but
I have heard great things about FoxFi. Thanks for watching and I hope this
helps :)
@chivasjorge90 I have installed everything correctly, but when I want to
connect a device it will not let me. It sends the device to a website about
purchasing a hotspot plan from Verizon. Please get back to me.
This would be great. I'm moving in a few months to a place where there is
no internet services available, so if I were to buy a new phone and do
this, that would be awesome so I could use my laptop :)
If you have unlimited data that you're paying for then you are okay. If you
have a limit then be careful with how much data you use while tethering.
And thanks for the sub :)
I tried this on my 4.3 Note 2 but I can't get it to work. If anyone knows how to get tethering on a rooted stock rom I605 Note 2 running 4.3 ota please advise. I don't want to install any roms so I could keep using my Gear. Thanks

How To Setup WiFi Tethering & Portable Hotspot Android KitKat
Enable/turn on/off tethering & portable hotspot Nexus 7 via Nexus 5 acting as a wireless router. Turn your android nexus mobile device into a portable Wi-Fi ...
I believe Sprint won't charge me for this? I've heard only Nexus 5 can do
this without being charged for tethering with Sprint? Correct if I'm wrong.
Ty!
I'm pretty sure your correct. It basically just turns the Nexus 5 into a wireless router. So you would just need to keep a close eye on your data usage with sprint.
This video will show you how you can get free wifi tethering/wireless
hotspot on the Google Nexus 7 2013 using the Google Nexus 5 acting as a
wireless router.
@nathanielisaboss a lot of times its about putting apps onto your device
that the android market does not allow. Most recently old skool emulators
like Tiger GBA and wifi tethering apps were taken away. With a Rooted phone
you can install these apps as well as custom ROMS. For example the Atrix I
have a custom ROM or "theme" called Gingerblur. the look and interface is
completely different than the stock motoblur. Custom ROM are a bit advanced
and should be well researched first.
@the3rdknuckles Are you trying to have wifi on and wifi tethering on at the
same time? If that is the case then no, it will not work. You need to make
sure you turn of wifi tethering before trying to connect to your wifi
again. Wifi tethering is meant to share your mobile broadband using the
wifi radio built into your phone. It does not share the standard 802.11
wifi signal.
I don't know if the carriers would know that you are using a third party
tethering app like this one. The wifi hotspot you are using from your
carrier reports to them that you are tethering so you are following what
ever terms and conditions included into your plan. I would say just try it.
Thanks for watching!
Johnny No i am doing it wireless like the video, fallowed the video all the
way threw with no issues unless im missing something ? And you dont need
the wireless tethering packing on your AT&T account correct?
@johnnythegeek1 maybe it has something to do with the binary codes it
changed/installed? I think I remember it doing something to the binary
code. I don't really remember it was really early this morning.
i have the unlimited plan but i hear with the wifi hotspot it only gets
4gigs then they start chargeing you xtra does this still happen after you
root? im using the wifi hotspot that came with my razr
Johnny When i press the WIFI on the Atrix the Tethering starts download
0.4kB and upload is 0.1kB and thats it. On my conputer i can find the
device but it gives me no network access.
Yo Jonny I just did the wireless wifi tethering for root users and my phone
can't detect my wifi anymore. Can you help me out? If it helps I have a
rooted samsung exhibit.
I turned the wifi tethering off. I still can't connect. When I go to wifi
settings it scans then says connecting then it disconnects and does the
same thing over and over.
Hey Johnny Every thing down loaded correct to my Artrix4g but when i try to
launch my Tethering to my computer is says unidentified network no network
