The Blue Bottle Craft of Coffee: Growing, Roasting, and Drinking, with Recipes by James Freeman, Caitlin Freeman, and Tara Duggan In stores October, 2012 ...
haha wow. Comment sections are always great, and this one doesn't
disappoint. I think with anything like this, you have to find a balance
between cultured and pretentious. There are going to be some people who'll
like anything because it's hip or fancy and others who'll hate it for
exactly the same reason. This book is for the rest of us who just want to
learn about good coffee. I read and loved it and now brew pour over coffee
in my kitchen. Can't wait to find a good shop doing the same.
I really like coffee, live in the San Francisco Bay Area and drink Blue
Bottle Coffee. Also I own the book. That said, these people, their book and
business are about doing something well, for the pleasure of it. That isn't
snobbish, it is an engaging and interesting way to live. This process is
inclusive rather than elitist. I have been educated, entertained and
inspired by their example…making better coffee is a wonderful bonus that
last a lifetime.
I really don’t understand when being someone who like good things started
to mean snob ?? And those people who strive for the best in the world of
coffee are also helping poor families in all the areas where the coffee is
growing to live a better life by paying them what their green beans are
really worth. Those roasters practice what is called the direct trade.
Tried 8 different coffeeshops in New York over 6 days at last Easter time.
Bottle was the best coffee I had in New York. Tobby's Estate was also good
but not as good. But all the shops I tried(and almost all of them roast
their own coffee) uses coffee that is roasted darker than what is common
here in Iceland and Scandinavia.
kind of reminds me of most apple users having a snobby cult mentality. most
of these types of people are assholes to those that are not in their
supposed class that they have made up. and yes you look that bad to most
other people. the ultimate irony of non-conformist being conformist
I just listened to James Freeman on The Splendid Table on WJFF (public
radio station in Jeffersonville, NY). Fascinating information and I plan
to research this thoroughly! Thank you to the Freemans for publishing
their book.
Was just listening to Gould's interpretation of Goldberg Variations when
something prompted me to look up 'Blue Bottle Coffee' only to hear the same
tune again in the opening of the video!
I love good coffee and I appreciate those who try to bring it to the rest
of us, but this video is annoyingly pretentious and leaves me wanting to
hit the nice proprietors with a cream pie.
Oh! and plus, those baristi are doing all those "snob" things to serve YOU
the best cup of coffee. So please stop being so hypocrite and ungrateful,
it’s fucking annoying...
