Yea, you should post one of those 'let's support each other by subscribing to one another's channels' type posts on 30bad. No matter how many subs you have, keep making videos!

+Bj tchI now think I'm low on subs because I haven't done the tried and true techniques the famous people use:  like subbing to 1000's of people,  and I'm not being found, and I wasn't on facebook, twitter, etc ... until 2 weeks ago. There was ONE day my views and subs spiked.  I discovered that a famous YTr "liked" one of my vids, which automatically puts the vid on his homepage(recent activity).  It was Durianrider :))   It's about exposure.I post my vids on 30bad, and linked my channel.  Is that what you mean?

Anytime! I love your vids, don't know why you don't have more subscribers! Have you posted your channel on 30BAD or do you stay away from "them crazy people" ;)

I needed this video, like, 14 yrs ago. I made sooo many mistakes back then. Still mess up on this from time to time. It can be a toughie, esp when, even when you lovingly share, folks don't get it or, because it makes "them" uncomfortable, they tease you or poke fun. So, I have to remember the "why" I do what i do and to love people. Where they are.

Yes. :) Thanks so much for sharing, Susanelizabeth.

I really liked this vid bc it was helpful and you shared ur personal experiences .. I've had similar experiences with having to just not tell anyone or give them short answers when they ask about my diet. I am wondering and I hope u don't mind my asking.. Are you basically on 80/10/10?.. high carb raw vegan mostly? I have a friend who has type 1 diabetes. Do you find that the diet is successful at treating it? Thanks for the vid!!

Wonderful - thank you.

Glad you liked the vid.  Thanks for commenting.  Yes, I eat a fruit-based raw food diet.  I no longer term what I eat 80/10/10 because "The 80/10/10 Diet" is pretty anti-supplement and I feel supplements are very important due to the poor soil quality and high amount of toxicity we face daily, poor previous lifestyles, etc.  But those are the general ratios I use, since my diet is low-fat plant-based: raw fruits, non-sweet fruits, and limited amounts of nuts/seeds, and occasional leafy greens.  Yes, this diet has worked really well for my type 1.  I have lots of vids on that topic. :)

I'm having a real problem with my inlaws. We've tried to explain very many times why my husband and myself are eating this diet but they either ignore or start to get upset and walk out on the conversation... It's really distancing us from the family. Not sure what to do. I just try to stay positive around them so they know that I'm happier now that I am feeling better ...

+Persimmon Dancer Sorry but wow, that just made me laugh..."without thinking, I said, 'because there's cheese on it'." lol.  I "get you" there!  Sounds like you are doing so many things in a way that would promote good relationships!  Totally get the holidays being focused around food.  Oh boy, yes.  On another note, my in-laws told me (when I finally started to work through my issues and deal with relationship amends) that they had felt for years that they were walking on eggshells around me with all my issues.  Not sure if I mentioned that in the vid or not...I have been on both sides of the coin, hehe.

+Persimmon Dancer  I understand. What I had to realize (and  helps me "love" and forgive folks like this, is that , because of my eating disordered past (as Tasha mentioned in her vid) I've confused the heck out of folks, esp my hubby of 42 yrs!! One visit, I'm eating low carb, mostly proteins, etc, next visit, vegan, next I might be all raw, next...you get the drift. My wt would go up and down. Sometimes, I'd eat whatever they had and lots of times, I'd binge with them. So, many are so fed up with me, tired of the constant, "I have finally found the way to ....." and so, any changes, irritate them and frustrate them. So, I worked some steps on it and saw my part(not saying you have any part in this, but this is about me, and where I was) and pray(es) before visits, remembering how tired they must all be with the constant changes, esp when they'd try to fix something special. With me, I have so many dietary changes and lack of ability to eat certain foods, it truly is hard for others, so bring my food is a must. I will be going to a big gathering this coming Sat and am already praying about my responses or non-response and that God would help me love, forgive and also have an understanding heart no matter their responses (which at this fam gathering, is usually wonderful. They laugh at my choices but are sweet and never push anything on me, unlike some other family members or gatherings.) But, again, I find, if I remember how confused and frustrated they must be at the dietary changes through the yrs, it helps me to love and tolerate things much better.  Bless you. I know this is hard.

+Susanelizabeth Turner Yeah, I try to keep off the subject of food as well. But the only time we see them is at holidays and birthday - when the food is the focus. Like the most recent one was Easter. They asked what they should make and I told them I'd bring something for myself and husband to eat. Then while we ate dinner they asked why we didn't eat the salad they had prepared. Without thinking I said, "there's cheese on the salad". I'm not sure what the correct, least offensive, response would have been. But it didn't go over well. A family member who was present at that dinner got really mad because she's getting married soon and, apparently, she had ordered a "vegetarian" dinner for us to eat at her wedding. This is very sweet of her!!!! But she hadn't realized that we do not eat cheese (even though she's noticed in the past and made comments) and now she's mad that we won't be eating the dinner at her wedding.... Lord have mercy.. I told her Thank You very much for thinking of us. And I told her that she can tell the catoring company either not to serve us, of we can give her money to pay for our meals if she's already paid in advance. I'm starting to think maybe I should just eat the meal even with the cheese on it just to make them happy. :( It's hard. They are so different from my family. When I communicate on WHY I eat this way they shrug it off and refuse to talk about it anymore. I feel like walking on egg shells when I'm around them. Very awkward.

+Tasha Lee (Fruitful Healthy Living) Persimmon Dancer , I've experienced the same thing, repeated questions and then the resentment. I try my best to keep a "low" profile during meals and try to get them talking about other things, esp my food! LOL
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-0KnR5dwne8M/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAABs/7EozyDsi91U/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Persimmon Dancer Well it really does sound like you are doing a great job in a tough situation, and I just want to give you a virtual hug and encourage you to continue on!  The truth is, some people will never change, and we can't make them.  But we can at least bring peace and love and acceptance from our side, take care of ourselves (getting space and acceptance elsewhere), and choose to be happy and grateful no matter the results.  Hugs!
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-tp9liIMAb9o/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAEc/WF9WGmjHNPM/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Tasha Lee (Fruitful Healthy Living) Thanks! I'm sure it will work out down the road. :)
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-0KnR5dwne8M/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAABs/7EozyDsi91U/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Persimmon Dancer Wow, they keep bringing it up?  Geesh, how frustrating.  Sounds like you are doing a good job!  You never know what's going on inside other people...or where they are coming from...and why they react a certain way.  My family was really concerned when I first started, especially with all my health problems.  I guess it did take a few years of them watching me doing well before they stopped asking concerned questions and defending animal products and such.  It's been over 6 years now and they are starting to talk about it more, slowly make changes in their own eating as they have read Don Bennett's Avoiding Degenerative Disease, and encourage me to keep up the good work.  I did tell them that the best gift they could give to me would be to read that book and left it for them.  They like to read books.  My hubby gave his family The China Study audio book as a gift since they listen to audio books.  We don't really know how much of anything either family listened to or read, but we think it made a difference for them to have some solid answers and things to think about.  Then, instead of debating us, they could read the book if they wanted to know more about why we were doing this radical diet. :)
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-tp9liIMAb9o/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAEc/WF9WGmjHNPM/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Tasha Lee Sorry, but it's not that we keep bringing up the subject around the family. We would prefer not to talk about how we eat all the time LOL. But they keep asking! And getting offended when we go to a restaurant and order salads without cheese, etc. It's like they are hyper sensitive to observing what we eat and then they ask about it. So we try to explain and then they get upset... It's very odd. Personally, my family understands and "gets it" and they are perfectly fine with it. It's just my husbands family that seems to really have a problem. It's really causing a rift. If only they'd stop asking questions... Sorry, to be a complainer!!! It just weighs heavily on my heart often. I am trying to learn how to "let go" and just continue to politely answer their questions and tell them not to worry about us - we're doing fine. It seems they think I'm forcing my husband to eat this way. Or I'm using this diet as a way to distance him from them... It's just so awkward. Maybe in time they will just get used to it. In the mean time I encourage to do spend "alone" time with them so they won't think I'm tearing him away from them. THanks for responding.

Oh that sounds frustrating!  Well everybody has their own issues, that's for sure.  Sounds like they don't want to hear about your diet at all.  Might be best to just not bring it up at all, and just be okay with the fact that they aren't interested.  Maybe ten years down the road something could happen that would make them really interested in what you have to say.  Can you be okay with loving them and accepting them even if they don't want to hear about your diet?  For hubby and I, it has certainly strengthened our relationship together when others around us don't get it (or don't want to).  We can be loving with those people, but if we want to talk about fruit and health stuff we save it for another time and another place.  We save our energy and breath for those who want to hear what we have to say...organizing fruitlucks, doing stuff online and the two of us together, etc.  I wish you the best.  It's not hopeless unless you decide it is. <3 Hugs.
