Droid Maxx Droid Ultra Droid Mini XT1080 XT1080M Disassembly Tear Down
This is a disassembly video for the Droid Maxx, Droid Ultra and Droid Mini XT1080/XT1080M. *Note* I have been told the Droid Mini is different once you take off ...
Make sure to use a t4 for the screw near the flash. don't make the same
mistake I did using a t5 as suggested in this video. I ended up striping
the screw and could not get it out. can u say new phone...
+jasen w A lot of people have actually stripped the screw with t4 because of the fact it is smaller so greater chance of stripping it if you twist too hard. With t5 the chance its smaller but can still happen. However if you strip it, just use any house drill or go to a home depot have them use one of their drills and just drill into the screw with a small drill bit and it will break right off. You can then replace the screw. You can also use a dremel if you have one at home to break off the top of the head of the screw.
I have to droid mini, and have been having problems with the audio jack. It
only works with select plugs, and sometimes doesn't even work at all.
Suggestions?
+LocoCatpwnz Have you tried using a thin brush to clean the inside of the jack? Also maybe some of the contacts on the jack have gone bad requiring you to replace the head phone jack/slot
+grundyman26 No, not necessarily, that happend to mine, it could be you didnt plug the Screen LCD thing in enough, i just took out the LCD plug and replugged it in and turned it on and it was bright again
I think it may just be a faulty screen , I took it apart again and realized the sensor is connected to the mother board. But I don't see any physical damage .Thanks for your help , and your video was a big help in getting this thing apart.
+grundyman26 Do you have auto brightness turned on? If so maybe you have damaged the light sensor on the front top of the phone where it detects light and is dimming the screen (so you can try turning off auto brightness), Or you might have a faulty screen.
Just a quick point: at 4:26 when you are taking off the top piece, there
are actually holes right next to the tabs in the face of the piece; so you
can stick a small tool in and simply push outward on the tabs from the
inside. It's a bit easier to do, and you're also less likely to damage or
break the tabs.
+Gavin Bright Yea I figured that out a while after I had done the video, just never got around to adding a note in that section to mention that. I will try n do it now. Thanks :)

on the droid maxx is there a way to change the internal memory? I purchased
one to later find out it had no slot for an SD. I have no problem
disassembling it but does it have a port for an SD or can it be swapped for
one with larger memory
there is no memory card slot. you can buy a leef access reader for a easy way to transfer to a sd card. you will need a file manager. check out my video on it. https://youtu.be/hop-C5Fobis
How to remove a Droid Razr battery.
THIS IS NOT A GUIDE ON HOW TO RESET THE PHONE. IT'S HOW TO REMOVE THE BATTERY TO REPLACE IT WITH A BIGGER ONE. Stop complaining ...
I LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! my dumbass phone freaked out and 100%
locked up while surfing the web on it.. and i was freaking out because for
the life of me it went black screen and nothing i did would make it come
back on.. :( Then i read the hold the power and down volume at the same
time, and wouldn't you know.. it worked!!!!!!!!!!!!! thank you SO MUCH!!!
This saved me a trip to verizon and about 300$ trying to take out the
battery lol. glad i researched before trying it!! LOVE YOU
Wow... lots of people here who don't know how to read. Anyway, this worked
but unfortunately it led to the power strip being ripped off in the
process. I had already ordered the new battery and should have it tomorrow,
so I should live without a phone for a day... would have liked to see a
warning about this in the video, though. Maybe my glue was stickier than
your phone, not sure... Thanks for the video, nonetheless. It was helpful
If I or anyone else who commented on this video knew how to open the cover,
then we wouldn't of searched on how to do it. Damm..what's up with the
negative comments, the dude was only posting this to help whomever
out.......and "Sarah Johnstone" Do you kiss people with that
mouth......real classy. Thanks Scott, I got my cover off just the way you
showed....appreciated.
ALWAYS! ALWAYS! ALWAYS! Do your research before ANY DIY project. Research
is so very easy with the internet, but if you do not consult numerous
trusted sites, or you go on half cocked with only half the info. needed
then you are a fool. Scot's video clearly states that it was not all the
info. needed. Pay attention people and do the full research before
proceeding.
To all: i purchased a tmobile sim and they told me it would work yet over
the phone or in store they cant get it to work, had this phone since new
and its not jail broken or any of that crap....trying to get on the
unlimited plan for $50 and cant work until this is fixed....anyone got it
working im so lost and frustrated as fuk lol
you cannot take battery out without ruining phone. do not attempt. not like
other phones, you must either take it in or if you have to restart it press
power and volume down at same time...hold it for 10 seconds, it will
restart. there's a reason its so difficult to get backplate off, its cuz
you CANT take battery out without damage!
I figured it out how to remove the cover myself, but wanted to watch you
remove the battery (hence the title of your video). Now I tore my battery
cable and need to get it fixed. DO NOT remove the battery on your own! Now
I'll go find out how much it'll cost to fix......and I'll enjoy living back
in the '80's
I found your clip useful, also found that a guitar pick works well too,
just press it into the groove and it opens up the case. I started where
you said to and it worked well. I installed an ONITE 1900 mAh battery from
Amazon, fit just right and included all the glue pads. Thanks.
I'm sorry I haven't posted the rest of the video up but I can tell you
without a doubt removing the battery does not ruin the phone, I have the
new battery In my phone right now. Its only a matter of removing 2 tech
screws to take the battery contact off and replace with the new one.
if you really want to take the battery off without making any damage to the
phone or breaking it go here: youtube com/watch?v=oqydiSBngt4 (delete the
space and place s dot (.) between youtube and com he shows it step by step,
srry for my english ptt: like so anyone can see
What was the point of another battery? Did u get a bigger one? If so how is
it going to fit? Im tired of this tiny battery my self. Sorry for all the
questions just curious because i want more battery life with out the max. I
love my white RAZR and the thinness of it.
i phoned a guy and after i clicked the "end call" buttan it just stopped ,
now i really need my phone for tomorrow so i have two options 1. wait for
the battery to die out or 2. take the battery out and put it back in.. hope
you can reply to me today thanks alot :)
(NEW) Motorola DROID MAXX XT1080 - GLASS REPLACEMET ONLY
This is instructions on REPLACING THE GLASS of a Motorola Droid Maxx. This is not for the Droid Razr Maxx. I saw 1 video for the LCD replacement and ...
The Droid Maxx is a high end smartphone developed by Motorola Mobility. It's the first droid to be a high end smartphone exclusively developed by Motorola for ...
this is probably the worse tutorial. no audio and skipped steps (parts
mysteriously appear on the side and forgetting to put parts back in place.
seems like this is your first go with this phone as you obviously had
issues just from opening it up.
+jasen w LOL I wonder if their was a screw in the headphone jack that had to be removed first/, To make it possible for it to come apart , Like it is with a Nokia lum 928 phone & if you need to be super extra carefull pulling it apart to prevent the micro small plastic clip's that it slides apart & together-again from breaking ,Thus making it not go back together tight'ly when done?,? LOL
Droid Mini/Ultra/MAXX Digitizer replacement
How to replace a Droid Mini,Ultra,Maxx digitizer. Terribly sorry for all the background noise and chatter. Check out my new Droid Mini screen replacement video ...
Awesome video, very helpful. I yours and others videos to remove the glass
only (digitizer is still working). Can you show us how to install glass
only?
+Michele Pollasch well if that's the case then all there is left to do is get some thin 3m tape, adhere the edges (left and right), top near the ear speaker and right above the soft keys at the bottom and place the glass on. As long as the LCD isn't busted the phone should turn on as normal. Depending on what tape you use you might need to double it up so that the glass doesn't press on the LCD and create a bubble looking shape on the center of the screen. 3M 300LSE is a really good tape to use. Just need to find the right width you need. (Dependent on the phone) People will mention loca glue. This is the devils semen. Even if used 100% properly it can spread to other components on the logic board itself and cause soo many problems. Ive used this method and tape on thousands of devices for years.
I've already separated the broken glass so the hard work is done. I have the new glass and could use directions for installing glass only. Can you help?
+Michele Pollasch an easy answer here is just dont be cheap and get the combo. Glass replacements are a "band-aid" at most. Separating the glass from the lcd is no easy task, plus your phone will never really be the same again. I tell all my customers its not a good repair. just my 2 cents
i have a droid ultra and i replaced the glass screen it was cracked really
bad but now im having a problem with the lcd/digitizer i can not get the
logo on the phone when you turn it on i need help lol im hoping its not
broke and i hope i got all of the cables hooked up right
check if the battery cable is still connected or check if the phone is charged
Motorola Droid Razr HD Battery Replacement Guide
www.RepairsUniverse.com - Replace a worn or non-functional battery on your Motorola Droid Razr HD using this video repair guide. We walk you through each ...
is it possible to activate unlocked GSN Google Motorola Razr to an already
existing sprint network? I contacted sprint for a sims card but not sure if
I will be able to transport my number to the device...Plz help
Great video - thanks! I used it when replacing the battery on my Razr Maxx
HD and here are some observations:
--There is a small round metal part at the headphone jack that fits between
the screen and the body. This came loose when I separated the screen and
body. Attaching it to the screen with a tiny dab of glue helps to keep it
in place when re-assembling.
--There is yellow tape at the connectors for the screen. You need to peel
this up to detach the connectors.
--There is a white line near the end of each of the screen ribbon cables.
When reassembling, make sure the line is flush with the edge of the
connector.
--If the phone is dead after reassembling, don't despair. Take it apart
again, make sure all the cables are seated properly and the clamps are
closed. While you have it open, disconnect and reconnect the battery to
reset the phone. Put it back together and try again. It took me 3 tries to
get everything working.
Pretty good instructional video.
One way to improve it is to ditch the habitual trait of ending every
sentence sounding like a question. It's annoying. =PC=
Doesn't just appear larger, it is larger. Phone's claims to have the 4.7"
screen or a 5" screen but they don't account for how much the buttons
decrease the screen size. Props for the Maxx and Ultra giving a full 5"
view.
I don't see any reason why this is better than the S4 which is going for
half the price. The battery life is great but with the S4 I can swap
batteries if I need extra juice.
