How to Open the OtterBox Defender Case on Your Samsung Galaxy S4
//basicblogtips.com/ I use the OtterBox Defender Series Case With Holster Style Belt Clip for my Samsung Galaxy S4 Smartphone. The hard plastic shell for ...
How come mine comes off super easy I just barely pull it without any
pressure and the snaps come right off. Makes me worried it's defective or
something. I've only taken it apart like 16 times because of oil spots. But
one of the snaps seem not to hold. And it's definitely not broken I've
checked everything and everything is where it should be and nothing is
warped.
+Billy Rosser what size Otter box are you using? If you have the iPhone 6+ then it is much easier to open that one. As long as everything snaps in place when you close it, you are good to go!! Thanks for watching the video.
+Pakoukers110 Thanks for your show of support my dear! It's ironic that this is my most popular video on YouTube and yet it's the ONLY one with negative comments and more thumbs down than thumbs up. :)
While people commenting are unnecessarily harsh and rude, they're correct.
All you do is tell the viewer that they need a screwdriver. This is a
visual medium and you need to show yourself using the screwdriver to open
the case. I've never had an Otterbox before and have no idea what side to
put the screwdriver in or if I just use it to push in tabs. While I
wouldn't call the video useless or insult you, I would suggest being a
little more step by step. Even if you think it's obvious, others may not.
I STILL don't know how to open my case, lol.
+Rebecca Galardo Thanks so much for the feedback!! I'm not sure if you can hear the audio but right at the 1:04 timestamp I mention how to open case and show exactly where to insert the screwdriver tip. https://youtu.be/MoCeTc-46l0?t=1m4s I added the text overlay to indicate that you need to insert the screwdriver to release the tension clips. Did you notice that part? I hope that makes things more clear.
+PCollen YT Exactly, that is the point of the video. You only need a small tool to open the Otterbox but you can't open it unless you have the tool handy (unless you want to break your fingernails). What were you expecting?
I always learn something from all your videos. Haters are gonna hate. I
love your tutorials! BTW, I have a Defender OtterBox. Can I say opening
it was one thing, having it actually protect my iphone 5c is another! It
didn't. My screen shatters from a short fall out of my hands at less that
2.5' walking in the door. It feel flat on the ground and the screen
shattered! FYI - there is no protection or warranty when the product fails
to live up to the hype. Very expensive lesson. I'm so miffed. The implied
insurance is just that. Save your $$
Hi +Kate Glenn thanks so much for your support!! I always appreciate your kind words and deeds. Such a shame you had that experience with Otterbox. I've dropped mine at least a dozen times and not a scratch yet ((fingers crossed)).

How to Remove an Otterbox Defender Case from a Galaxy S4 Active Phone
Hey, it's not easy if you don't have the tools for it, so I wanted to share this for others out there who may be desperate to find such a video. If you have such a ...
Thanks *so* much! Your video was the third hit at YouTube so I watched the
other two first. Boy, were they useless! One had more negative thumbs than
positive; I have no idea why Google (YouTube is Google) thought it should
sort to the top. Finally I got to you and your explanation was marvelous!
Thanks very much for taking your valuable time to share with us.
+Eben Visher Thank you for taking the time to comment! I'm glad that I could help. I find it humorous that my video has 48 negative thumbs; maybe they didn't like my pajamas...lol.
Thank you you saved my butt. I was using my dads i phone and i spilt water
on it on ascendant and this video help me a lot so i will no get in
trouble.
Thanks for saving me!!! Didn't want to hard reset the "black doom of death
screen" in fears it would erase everything. I said I have that doohickey.
So I removed the case to get to get the battery out. But geez that Otterbox
is like Ft Knox! Very solid product
+Rhonda Amerson I agree! I got a new one recently (for my iPhone) and had a heck of a time removing it, too!

~ Aaron; thank goodness i found this video... great job, thank you... the
companies "welcome" literature, which comes with the product is woefully
absent the critical information you provide here... thanks again !!!...
Thank you for this video. I lost the instructions that came with the
installation and removal of the Otter box and have not had time, nor wanted
to drive to my provider for a representative to assist. I was able to do
this and now remember how. :) Have an awesome day. Great video. Straight
to the point and helped handle the situation at hand. :)
Geeez!! Why didnt i watch this vid before about a zillion others. I agree
with another commenter.. after watching this video I had the case off in
seconds. The HUGE difference in this video and others is that it was
suggested to flip the phone over before releasing the clips. After doing
that they were much easier to release. Thank You for sharing !!!
Case is really bulky also when using finger print unlock glass on the front
of the otterbox scrapes your finger. Could not seem to get the clip to work
as a stand keeps falling over.
be warned when i tell you this case is bulky but will give you good
protection but you must remove the phone at least ounce a week to clean it
and check for moisture.
Thank you for saving my sanity. The credit card worked just fine. Too bad
the Otter Box instructional video, put out by the company, did to contain
that little tidbit. The inner case was almost as difficult to open. All
this for $50!
Video was good...just a little fast. Haven't watched other videos yet but
if he talks this fast through them it will be a little hard to follow (I am
new to smart phones so all information is new to me).
Thanks Guy. I was having a b*tch of a time trying to get this thing off.
After watching your video had it off in seconds. Thanks again for keeping
me from a frustrating afternoon.
I would like to commend you on how well you taught how to put the Otterbox
case on the Galaxy 5. I was very impressed! Thank you so much for your
demonstration!
I've solved this if you have the one with the small tabs on the long
corners. Step 1, remove the cover. Check. Step 2, remove the silicone
component. Check. Now to the poly-carbonate shell removal. Fumble around,
hyper extend a fingernail. Get screw driver. Destroy the poly-carbonate
shell yet it continues to cling to the iPad. Launch the whole thing into a
wall or out the window of a 30 story building. Head to the nearest Apple
Store as you've now convinced yourself it's time to upgrade.
ok guys, i literally just got done taking mine off... if you have a problem
and you happen to have a guitar pick laying around, that works perfectly,
just slide it under the clip and slide it off... if you dont have a pick
laying around, some kind of hard plastic should suffice, a guitar pick
works just perfect, so, just plastic about that thick... hope i helped
it's pretty hard to uninstall cases these days, because they really need to
be sturdy in order to pass with flying colors. Great uninstall and keep the
videos coming. Iphone 5s gold, iphone 5 white, ps4, and beats pro. Really
like the channel and the videos are professionally done. Keep up the great
work.
Thank you. I have to do the same soon with mine being I'm getting the iPad
Air. It will be fun to see the iPad "naked" for it's been locked away
inside the Otterbox Defender Series case for almost 3 years.
Thanks for taking the time to do this video. I used a small screwdriver to
help pry the tabs up, but the arrows helped identify the direction. I
literally got it apart before the end of the video.
Use the store loyalty cards on your key ring and slide them between the two
pieces to open the 'locked' pieces. It works like a charm and won't damage
the case or the iPad
