Hiya Kamara, will be going through underbite surgery in 2016 and I was
wondering about the metal plates. They put them in to hold your face
together, right?
+Samara That's okay! Don't apologize! That's the whole reason I did these videos - to help others who were going through the same or similar things :) Honestly, I don't even notice any of the metal in my face haha :) I only noticed the broken plate because I could actually feel it. You can ask to have them removed but if they aren't worrying you, then you can just leave them there. It's up to you :) Getting them out is a lot easier than putting them in!
+Kamara Vlogs Oh, I see :) thank you for explaining this to me properly. This is one of those small details I always wondered about, lol. I would rather have the least amount of metal in my face as possible tbh. Do you think a surgeon would be willing to take out both plates by request or is it usually only done for a specific reason? I apologise for all the questions btw. I am just a curious lass :P
+Samara You don't always need to have them removed, they can just stay in there :) I still have a plates and screws on the left hand side. It takes about 6 weeks for the new bone to grow so after a few months the bone completely heals and then there's no real need for the plate, so no they didn't replace it :)
+Kamara Vlogs and, when they were removed, did they need to be replaced with new ones? or is it a case that the bone grew enough for you to no longer need the metal plates in?
Delighted the surgery went well :D fair play for vlogging throughout the
experience, it must have been a stressful time but at least its all behind
you now x
+jadexx143 Thank you! Yeh it was pretty tough but I'm all good now! :) Thanks for watching xx
Pectus Excavatum Without Surgery
I have Pectus Excavatum (peito escavado), and I chose no minimally invasive surgeries for it, like the Nuss Procedure. I wanted to share with you reasons why I ...
I have the same problems u have, i was having this for about 16 years, i
try anything but no improvements yet, and thay also makes me very weak in
my chest and my back, any help.
Hmm, thats out of my experience.Don't get me wrong sometimes when my chest is stiff it hurts trying to keep good posture. and when I force myself to keep good posture as days go by I can feel the soreness from it as well. when i force myself to stay in good posture, or start stretching my inner chest as much as I can, I try and condition and stretch the cartilage that connects the ribs to the sternum. (Thats essentially what you want to aim for as that is what's causing the deformity). Which is why the actual procedure literally is pushing the sternum out and nothing more..not including incisions and metalic braces, etc. it's doing what you do when you stretch except obviously, all day everyday.Of course it can only help so much.So far my chest has improved and i started emphasizing more on chest presses over at the gym (theres a small gym where i work, which is cool). Of course Pushups, situps/crunches, are a main part of my workout (and it should be for your too if you have no gym membership).IDk why you feel weak, but if you've been stretching out your chest, thats likely the cause. It could be very sharp pain, so don't over stretch if that's the case. Don't want to break yourself trying to fix yourself. lolAs for other reasons, maybe not enough nutrients, good food. You're probably not actively eating, etc. Get some calcium man, lol.Overall though, not sure about the pain.
+Luis Rosales I guess I've never really felt enough of a need to act upon, I live in New Zealand and assume surgery would be overseas somewhere. Also mainly recently I've been going to the gym mainly looking to build upper body muscle.
I have Pectus Excavatum and this is why I haven't done any surgeries for
it. Its not really a bother to me, or anything, sure it was at first when I
was self conscious about it but I'm learning to get through it. I'm not as
anxious anymore of course :D.

dude i have it also im waiting for an appointment with the bone doctor over
here in the U.K and see what they recommend because surgery over here can
be free through the nhs depending on whether it is serious enough which i
dont think it is anyways nice video i also hate going to the doctors bro
but when i went she said it was not a health risk just makes breathing a
bit harder because lungs cant expand fully so gave me an inhaler/.
+Paul W i was ment to go to bone doctor at hospital weeks ago they lost my application shit doctors ment to have one next week now sent another off i will pal.
How did your appointment go? I went to my Doctor twice I live in the UK as well and he just tells me 'its just one of those things' which is fucking annoying. You can bet if it was his own son he'd have it fixed for free on the NHS. Do you know how much surgery costs in the UK?
+ITzHazza Oh that sounds fairly good. Hope it goes well for you, and thanks :). Yeah, some don't really help much, unless it requires you to spend a great amount of money. I've never gotten any tips on it other than get surgery, its really annoying.
Hi , I know this video was posted a long time ago but I want to start of by
saying thankyou for making this video. Its nice to hear your story and I
feel like it gives me a better idea of what to expect. In saying that I know
everyone recovers differently. I was just wondering how you are doing now ?
Do you have any pain and/ or restrictions ? Lastly how long did it take for
you to feel like you were back to normal and doing everything that you
could before ? I have hyperkyphosis and I am going to get surgery hopefully
this year.
I feel your pain Dave. I have ruptured both ACL's and had both
reconstructed. Both football injuries. Cartlidge damage also on the right
knee which is the most annoying as it has required 2 further ops to tidy it
up! Best advice is RICE (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation). Hope the knees
get better!
